Update #28: The Wandering Continues
To all our loyal supporters:
We hope everything is well with each and every one of you. It's been a bit since we've updated, so we want to post and keep everyone abreast of our development.
We started out with a space that we really liked and had high hopes for a spot in Columbus Park. After engaging the city, talking with some folks (who were very nice, by the way), and submitting for a population density study of the area, we fell 100 people short of the city requirements. It was very disappointing...and it made us realize how hard a good home is to find.
However, we've been studiously looking for locations ever since. We are getting much closer to securing a spot and are meeting about that very thing tomorrow. We hope to be in a leased space about a month or so for now. The moment we know exactly where we decided to put down roots, we will let everyone know.
After the location is decided upon, we will begin our build-out and TTB paperwork. We are both hopeful and still marveling over the support all of you have offered us. Also, we promise that more updates are coming with much more frequency.
We simply cannot wait to see all of you at the brewery. Please continue to spread the good word.
Mike and Nate

Nate and Mike met at Bible College in 2000. It was during this time that they brewed their first beer together, a Double Chocolate stout. Collectively they have brewed hundreds of gallons of fine beer. They have coauthored a website that deals with all things beer for nearly 3 years.
We owe a great debt of gratitude to Brent Gudgel for donating the video, to Ishmael Penafiel who donated with our terrific graphic, and to Josh Meyers whose donated music made the video complete.
I am sure you are well along the way - but have you thought of Platte County at all (specifically Platte City)? We have at least four wineries within an easy drive (one in Platte City, and two near Weston, and one in Leavenworth), two nearby liquor distilleries (Weston and Athchison, KS) and at least one brewery so far (in Weston). We also have "wilderness" with streams, lakes, rivers, state parks, etc...so it would fit in the name. Plus, there are a few vacant buildings in downtown Platte City that may work and be available for a steal.
Something you might be interested from the KCRag board. People were wondering about your density comment, and someone explained that this was part of the justification for another package liquor outlet. Then someone brought up these exemptions:
"Sales-by-drink premises located wholly within the following described locations:
1. [A long description that's basically all of the loop and Crown Center]
2. [Zona Rosa]
3. The area bounded by Guinotte Avenue on the south, North Montgall Avenue on the west, Rochester Avenue on the north and North Chestnut Traffic way on the east.
4. [Zona Rosa east]"
Number 3 is basically a special Knuckleheads exception, but it also includes the old Heim Brewery building, which is right across the street from Local Pig. Something to think about.
