About this project
Thank you for taking the time to click on this page and hear more about the Kickstarter campaign for my latest record. When I started making music the industry was a very different place. Labels were still the norm and budgets were high, mainly funded by the labels and then promoted and sent to radio and retail stores. The Internet has removed the middleman and given independent artists a level of freedom and independence I could never have imagined.
This freedom, however, can be a double-edged sword. While I think it serves the creative process well, the burden of budget and marketing can be overwhelming. Even keeping my costs to a minimum and using my home studio it gets increasingly difficult to set aside the funds needed every two years to record.
I come to you in great humility not pretending that you are the winner in this whole deal. I am privileged to know you. Your patronage means the world to me and your support allows me to do what I love. For 12 years you have booked shows, bought records, sent encouraging messages and made my life rich with meaning. I do not take this for granted.
I believe with all my heart that art makes a difference. I have been working very hard on the songs for this new album and I want to share them with you. Once again I will be working with the fantastic Cason Cooley as well as many talented musical friends. My goal here is $12,000 but the actual costs involved with the record will be close to twice that amount. I set it low because unless you reach your goal the money is returned and I am back where I started. We are keeping the budget to a minimum but still trying to pay everyone a fair wage so they can make a living in music as well. Your money will not be going to buy flights to New York or time in fancy studios, it will be going to musicians and mixing engineers who work incredibly hard at their craft.
The “thank-you gifts” on the right side of this page are a small way to let you know how much I appreciate your support. I tried to make them as personal as possible in this technological age. Know that if our paths cross on the road I will look forward to telling you “thank you” in person! I will do everything in my power to make a record worthy of your patronage.

We already have. Jill, Andy Gullahorn and Cason Cooley have been working on pre-production for the record and plan on having the main tracking session the first week of May.

We don't know yet. We are shooting for late-summer / early-fall but sometimes our aim isn't perfect.

At this stage, we don't know. The working title is Mr. Priggles. Don't ask why. I am 99.9% sure this will not be the actual title of the record.

Jill Phillips is a mother of three lovely (most of the time) kids, the wife of an avid bowler, and a singer/songwriter who has made her living the last 13 years by sharing her songs and stories. She has released 7 records and is in the process of recording her 8th studio project.
Andy Gullahorn is a father of three lovely (most of the time) kids, the husband of a singer/songwriter and an avid bowler. He is a singer/songwriter as well. Andy spends much of his time on the road performing solo dates, performing & accompanying his wife, Jill, or traveling with Andrew Peterson as a member of the Captains Courageous.
