About this project
Based on a popular book series from the UK, “This Film Will Change Your Life” is bound to inspire viewers to explore their playful and adventurous sides. This film will document participants following the daily tasks instructed in the book This Book Will Change Your Life by Benrik Ltd. The manual suggests a one-year plan of daily tasks meant to promote individuality, creativity, humility, bravery, and self-exploration.
(From www.benrik.co.uk) “Benrik’s mission is to introduce a welcome element of branded anarchy into our predictable lives. Benrik’s books are thus instruction manuals for warped living. This Book Will Change Your Life is a recipe for permanent revolution in people’s imaginations, encouraging them to reinvent themselves every day of their lives. It has spawned a worldwide cult and is now in its sixth year.”
The idea of this film is to follow a handful of participants willing to follow the book’s agenda from page 1. Individuals will be asked to follow each daily task in the book regardless of its instruction. As time continues, infallibly participants will begin to notice changes in their lives, whether spawned from rearranging schedules to fit the needs of each task or by discovering an unknown inner creativity, bravery, or vulnerability.
We will be creating a short film before pursuing the feature length documentary. The short will consist of a number of interviews and footage from "Benrikians" all around the world. We also intend to shoot a participant new to the diary that will perform the daily tasks on camera.
We are looking for funding to help us travel across the country (and the world!) to document some of the most inspiring and engaging people that are involved in the creation of the phenomenon and are engulfed in the book's directions. We are also in need of equipment (namely multiple cameras to ship to the participants), extra book copies, and help setting up our business accounts.
The Kickstarter goal will hopefully be enough to keep our project rolling, as we have some amazing responses that we want to follow up on but don't have the means. It may only be enough to fund the short, but with that, we can pitch the idea more clearly for further investments. Our production goal is to create a feature-length documentary that we will submit to the festival circuit, pitch as a reality TV show, nominate for several Oscars, remake as an animated movie starring the voice talents of Tim Allen and John Goodman, and sell to the Jamaican government in exchange for a fancy new set of steel drums. (Goals are subject to change.)

Jennifer has been a part of the entertainment industry since 1996 when she joined the cast of “Hot L Baltimore” at the Marathon Community Theater. Since then, Jennifer spent the next several years expanding on her theater talents in the acting, directing, and stage management fields. In 2001, Jennifer accepted an internship with The Discovery Channel on a show called “Home Matters.” The show brought Jennifer to Orlando, FL, where they filmed on the backlot of Universal Studios. Jennifer was quickly promoted from intern to production assistant and again to segment producer in a matter of weeks. Once the season ended, Jennifer continued to work freelance in every avenue of production. She dove into the commercial industry where she worked on ads for Pepsi, Sea World, and Disney among others.
Along the way, Jennifer returned to her theater roots by assistant stage managing “A Tale of Two Genies” at Arabian Nights in Kissimmee in 2005/2006. She then held a long-term position at Deeb Studios as a producer and photographer’s assistant for Orlando photographer John Deeb. Here, she worked closely with advertising agencies to produce several commercials and print campaigns for companies like Bright House Networks, Valencia Community College, Epcot, ScanDesign, UCF, and Disney. In addition, she assisted in production on several short films and photography for local and national music acts. More recently, Jennifer went back to work in the television field when she was the production coordinator on “My Big Redneck Wedding” and its “Biggest Ever” and “Redneck Christmas” specials for Pink Sneakers Productions. Upon the season ending, Jennifer was hired as the Executive Assistant and Production Manager of Dream Balloon Animation Studios, where she helped coordinate the production of several CG shorts, children’s books, and more.
Covering all facets of the industry, Jennifer has decided to branch out into feature films by writing and directing her own documentary.
