The Postponed Project combines elements of comedy, documentary, and crowdsourcing to tell a larger, generational story.

Who is Future House Pictures?

My name is Chris Correa and I founded Future House Pictures in 2010 — my senior year of college. At Future House Pictures, my team and I know that there's one way to the top — hard work and perseverance in the face of adversity. The stories we tell are comedic in form, but our comedy comes from a place of honesty and authenticity. They are stories true to our own narratives, our generation's narratives, and are relatable to anyone with a funny bone.

Postponed- The Web Series

Ten months ago my good friend Robby Hardesty and I found ourselves out of school and stuck. He was taking time off from his studies and living in Seattle, working as a barista.  I had just graduated, and was spending the money I was making from my unchallenging nine to five on material comforts — clothes, video games, and beer. Robby bought a barely working van, which he planned on living out of in order to avoid paying room and board when he returned to school in the Fall.

Robby's misadventures struck a chord.  I began writing a web series that followed two recent college grads that were broke, unemployed, and homeless. Their fix? Pose as college students while living in a van in the parking lot on their old campus.

The show takes a decidedly satirical look at the "Postponed Generation" — a generation of college graduates that have put off their ambitions to pay the fast approaching bills. We at Future House are a part of this generation and feel that we are in a prime position to tell this story, as we are living through it ourselves.

Though we were able to produce the first season on our own dime, we believe that the only way the series can flourish — the only way we can continue telling this story that needs to be told — is with your help.  We have big plans for a higher-value production, which will allow for cleaner picture and sound, better lighting, a more consistent work flow, and better production design. A chunk of the money raised in this KickStarter will go toward a new camera, a lighting kit, hard drives, storage media, and audio equipment.

The Postponed Project- The Bigger Picture

We are not telling a small story; this is a story that an entire generation has a stake in. We believe that the fictional narrative of "Postponed" The Web Series is only one part of a larger, three tiered story. The Internet allows for new storytelling techniques that are only just beginning to be explored.  We have the opportunity to take advantage of these strengths, to tell an even richer story that utilizes the interactivity and community-building possibilities of the Internet. In the new media movement, we want to be pioneers!

This entire story will be housed on our new and improved site, which you will help us complete. The site will allow intuitive and seemless access to all three parts of this greater "Postponed" story.

The second tier of the project tells our personal stories, which we currently cover on our tumblr "Unpostponed." This thread follows the team and I as we strive to achieve our goals while finding work in our field. On our new site, this thread will be updated daily with behind-the-scenes video blogs, pictures, editorials, and interviews with the crew about how they are balancing the pursuit of their dream with their day jobs, and more.  You can check out what we've done with this story thread thus far:

The third and final tier of this story is YOUR story, a story we plan on telling through content that YOU submit.  We want to know what you're doing, what you're thinking, and what you have to say.  Every week we'll look through your submissions and post your videos, prose, poems, rants, and pictures to our site, giving OUR community a glimpse into everyone's "Postponed" experience. We want to tell a full story, not just one slant.

With our site and this story, we want to lend voice to a community and a generation that has been covered by several individuals, but has not had a place to tell their own story with their own voice. Let's tell our story together

Every donation will go a long way toward making this entire project possible.

Thank you,

Christopher Correa
