the final countdown!

Update #4 · Feb 29, 2012 · comment

We're getting so close now to the end of our Kickstarter campaign and I want to thank all of you who have kept this campaign marching forward even after we reached our goal!

It is looking like we'll be able to bring some of the people in the film to the Brazilian premiere—it truly will be a life changing experience for them and for all of us! Your donations all mean so much and will help us get the most out of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

In addition to finishing the color correction and audio mix for the film, we've been forging alliances with NGOs who have an interest in the film's central issues of poverty, women and urban development. These partnerships will help us during our upcoming Outreach campaign and additional donations will be used to strengthen these efforts.

We're so happy that Saving Face, the short doc that our producer Davis Coombe produced and edited, won BEST DOCUMENTARY SHORT for 2012 at the ACADEMY AWARDS! We were so lost in the excitement that we didn't even notice that over the weekend we were IndieWire's project of the day! Check it out:

We are getting so close to the end of the campaign and are hoping to make it to $15,000 by the 9th! This is the final push to the finish line!

We are so, so close...but we hope to keep on going!

Update #3 · Feb 20, 2012 · comment

WOW!!!  We just found out there is even MORE GOOD NEWS for "Bay Of All Saints"!

But this news makes it not only critical that we meet our $10,000 goal, but that we EXCEED IT!

We are invited to a well-loved film festival in Brazil which begins in late March, just a week after our SXSW premiere! (The festival will make a public announcement within a few weeks and then we'll be able to share with YOU which one it is!)   This news is HUGE for us: it represents an opportunity to bring the people in the film to a theatrical-size screening with an engaged festival audience!

As you can imagine, screening at a Brazilian fest has been a longtime dream of mine; both to help publicize the plight of people living in the water slums and to bring the main characters, Norato, Geni, Dona Maria and Jesus, to a public event for the film.  This would be a rare moment of celebrity for them and an opportunity for them to engage with the film's audience in person. I strongly believe this once-in-a-life-time experience would be transformative for them!

We are hoping to raise money beyond our stated goal to invest in our Brazilian premiere, and begin our Outreach campaign that will bring the film to target audiences, especially those who could have an influence on the situation in the water slums of Bahia.

So please, let's keep this campaign marching forward! Please continue to pass this link along to friends, family and colleagues. Let's get there in the best way possible!

Thanks!

Annie

HUGE THANKS to all who have supported BAY OF ALL SAINTS!

Update #2 · Feb 18, 2012 · 1 comment

What an amazing group you are. Thanks to all of my CHILDHOOD FRIENDS who have donated, Go 'Rocks!  Thanks to you fellow FILMMAKERS and INDUSTRY COLLEAGUES, I'm so deeply appreciative. Thanks to the GLENNIEs, COOMBEs, EDMONDS AND EASTMANs, I love you guys. Thanks to all the DENVER-ites, especially the team over at the DENVER SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION and old CAPOEIRA friends, BRASILEIROS, other ARTISTS we've worked with, INTERNET SURFERS, FRIENDS of friends and FRIENDS of friends of friends.

THANKS TO ALL for taking a break from your hectic lives to click on our links and learn about BAY OF ALL SAINTS. That means so much to me.  Some of you can't give, but you've "liked" our Facebook page, BAY OF ALL SAINTS DOCUMENTARY FILM, thanks for supporting us in that way..

WE'RE NOT THERE YET....but we'll get there!  Thanks to MoveableFest for the shout out: http://www.moveablefest.com/moveable_fest/2012/02/kickstart-this-a-very-special-sxsw-2012-edition.html

Davis and I just got back from Boulder where we were mixing the audio at Coupe Studios. We're putting the final tweaks on the film and sweetening the audio. It's unbelievable to have worked on something for 7 years and now see it at this stage. We're really excited to take this to SXSW!  THANKS TO ALL OF YOU FOR BEING PART OF THIS WITH US!

SCREENING TIMES ANNOUNCED!

Update #1 · Feb 16, 2012 · comment

OK. It's real now. SXSW announced our screening times today: the premiere screening will be in the Vimeo theater in the Austin Convention Center on the 12th of March. We couldn't have asked for a better venue, that's 600 seats. Yipes! It's time to get this film finished in the best way possible!

THANKS SO MUCH TO ALL THE DONORS! We've had a very successful first week and I'm so grateful to all of you who took the time and the sacrifice to pledge your donation. It has slowed down the last 3-4 days, which I why I'm asking you all to consider passing on this link to your friends, family and colleagues. This is how we'll get   'er done!

Keep in mind that even small donations are ENORMOUSLY helpful and HUGELY appreciated.  Really. I'm not just saying that. If we can get a large number of donors in a short time, we'll become more visible on Kickstarter and the internet, which in turn leads to more donors and bigger donations!

All my heart-felt gratitude,

Annie
