150% Reached! New Stretch Goals!
75K! Thanks to you, our second stretch goal is reached! In the poll, with slight advantage the pack of story characters wins during the week, and nothing could change the situation until now. Well, so be it. Thanks all who helped!
And now - forward to the new stretch goals! We have now little more than a day, and that will be enough.
With the new stretch goal we have the following situation. We already have promised to port the game on Linux/Mac at 100K, and now we can't give up our words. If we'll reach 100K, that will mean port on Linux/Mac in fall 2012. In case (unfortunately, rather likely) if we WON'T reach 100K, we introduce the special stretch goal, depending on the amount that we will be able to collect (only one of three will be done):
- If we'll reach 85K (a 10K more than we have now) - it will be Boarding battles;
- If 90K (a 15K more than now) - it will be Caste assault and defense instead of boarding battles;
- If 95K (a 20K more) - it will be castles upgrade instead of castle assault.

We hope, all is clear now.
And, one more time - huge thanks! You don't miss the opportunity to help us to make the game better, and believe, it means a lot to us. Please, keep up the good things going - and, probably, tomorrow will bring into Eisenwald pirates or rams!
P.S.
We are happy to confirm German translation. Here is the link to "Der Weg in den Eisenwald". Thank you Michael Fuegemann!

Maybe trying to reach higher goals by pre-order is worth of considering? As I understand it's quite early stage of production - issuing a demo in later stage could help to convince other people...
Creator William Hoyt on May 22, 2012
I would like to say, I think you guys did a really good job with the stretch goals. With allowing people to vote and listing them with their respected values. It allowed the backing base to feel more apart of the process than just funders.
However, in the future, it might be best to not mention the "in between" stretch goals as the funding is coming to an end. Instead, just surprise everyone with the stretch goal that you can afford with the funds raised. Said approach would help keep some people from feeling alienated.
That being said, I don't understand the mentality of some people on Kickstarter:
"This is an awesome idea and I want to help fund it! And I also get same cool swag in exchange!"
...
"I don't like some of this free stuff! I am not helping you anymore!" *pout*
Creator Aterdux Entertainment on May 21, 2012
Hitting 100k seems unlikely, so while all the points are valid, in 14 hours 24k is not very realistic.
Creator Steff on May 21, 2012
@ Daniel, that's not an argument. If the funding goes through the roof and we reach 110k or 115k or 120k there still will be a stretch goal AND linux/mac versions. There is no need to stop at 95k. Thing is that we won't reach that much because things aren't speeding up and we will most likely reach 85k maximum. Or a miracle must happen.
Creator Darklord on May 21, 2012
We've got a long way to go before we need to worry about 95k+ anyhow guys. :-)
I still think rewarding the Mac OS/Linux guys has to be a good thing. It's nice to think of others sometimes. And like I said the sooner we get Mac OS/Linux the sooner we all get the expansions, honestly it's win/win if you think about it!
Creator Daniel on May 21, 2012
I got into this akward situation too wher eI hope we reach 95k now, but not more...
Stretch goals shouldn't entice me to hope funding would STOP at a point, but rather it should entice me to hope that funding would go through the roof... :-/ The situation now is just weird.
Creator Bastian Singstad on May 21, 2012
I'm happy with this and upgraded to $25 :)
Creator Michele Mazza on May 21, 2012
@shayne.oneill, I understand perfectly.
My point was that we got in the weird situation of trading an early linux/mac port with a better game.
I personally prefer to go with the better game later.
Anyway, I hope we hit $95.000.
Creator Aura on May 21, 2012
How is lowering my pledge because I want something on a higher funding goal going to get that something be made ...
Just wondering.
Creator Darklord on May 21, 2012
I actually think it's really a great idea to add a middle potential stretch goal, as hitting 100K does look unlikely. This way people keep pledging, surely even a goal you aren't super keen on is better than no goal?
Personally I did vote for boarding battles, I think the odd fighting with a ship background will be fun, King's Bounty the Legend has them, and I enjoyed them there. :-)
Don't forget we only get boarding battles if we hit 85K but not 90K+, if we do hit 90K or 95K then we get a more popular goal. Hit 100K and we get to spread the love with our Mac OS/Linux brothers! :-)
Creator Mariusz Kowalski on May 21, 2012
Besides, I voted for both story based stretch goals as I think it's harder to add a better story than it is to make an extra combat screen. So as a backer I've been looked after well....:P
Creator Mariusz Kowalski on May 21, 2012
@ omnifarious
Please just cancel your pledge altogether. We can do without your paltry sum.
Creator Steff on May 21, 2012
Why is everybody complaining here? If we reach 85k, why wouldn't they implement "boarding battles" ? It is the least favourite but that doesn't mean that nobody wants it! I think it would be very cool but I didn't vote for it because the other goals are cooler. But if there is not enough money to realize the others "boarding battles" is just fine for me and it's much better than nothing.
About the linux/mac port. Right from the start they said that 100K would be a fix goal and that they only could do 2 goals before that. Nobody could have foreseen that we would come in a situation like this (ending around 75K in the last 24hrs). Porting to windows, linux and mac at the same time would be wonderfull and some people have explained why in the comment-section. If you have pledged $35 you don't have to worry anyway because expansion packs will follow. Yes, you will have to wait a few months but linux/mac users will have to wait much longer to play the game. And don't forget: more fans is better for future expansion packs !
Creator Darklord on May 21, 2012
@Omnifarious, little disappointed at your attitude there. Aterdux Entertainment, are trying their best to give us the rewards we want. The plan is to give us the highest voted reward we can afford. think about it from there point of view.
Creator Imban on May 21, 2012
Probably because it's the easiest to implement, I'd think. That said, I don't really think this will hit 85k. Still really looking forward to the game, though!
Creator Omnifarious on May 21, 2012
I just lowered my pledge. Very few people want boarding battles. Including it as a stretch goal is fairly irritating. And creating a disincentive for pushing things up to the Mac/Linux simultaneous port goal really pulls the rug out from under people at the last minute. You will likely be funded regardless, but this kind of switching things around in a way that actually hurts the goals of some of the people who are funding your project seems really underhanded. I'm going to be generous and decide you just didn't think things through clearly instead of thinking that you actively wanted to really irritate some people.
////
In fact, what it looks like is that you don't actually care what any of your backers want, and you are going to arrange things so that a feature you really like (boarding battles) is going to happen regardless of whether or not that's something anybody cares about.
///
As I said, I'm going to generously assume a lack of forethought, not actual malice.
Creator Omnifarious on May 21, 2012
In fact, this really irritates me and makes me want to stop backing the project all together.
Creator Omnifarious on May 21, 2012
This means that people who want those other things but don't care about Linux support have incentive to make sure the Linux support goal is never reached.
Creator Starfox72 on May 21, 2012
I don't care one bit about boarding battle and I'm not alone (see the poll results). So please don't add the boarding battle just because there wouldn't be enough money for something better!
Creator Mark Gearon on May 21, 2012
My pledge just went up. Not long now...
Creator Aura on May 20, 2012
Hats off to M. Fuegemann on the translation of "A road to Iron Forest" into German!
Very elegantly done - it got an even more poetic tone to it than the original.
Creator Archon - Obsidian Order Illusive Man on May 20, 2012
One way to go during the next 28 hours, and some backers have already talked about it, would be to keep spreading the spread the word as much as we can and reach 100K+. This way LoE gets a large fanbase on PC, Mac and Linux with the promise of great expansions to add more content.
Convincing the more backers that 35$ tier is a good deal to get those great expansions for free would be one of our objectives.
A second ( best ) way is to brake over 100K and the closest possible to 165K in order to add the most stretch goals. Which means merely double the total pledges in 28 Hours. Huge task but
IT
CAN
HAPPEN.
Raise the glove !
Special stretch goal is here for consolation prize anyway.
Creator shayne.oneill on May 20, 2012
Michele: I think the idea is that because a substantial amount of work is required if they make it to $100K it means they have the resources to get it done earlier. I'm a mac user so I'll have to wait till a mac version comes out but as a coder myself I can understand why they needed the extra money. Coding aint cheap!
Creator Aterdux Entertainment on May 20, 2012
What would you recommend? We know that some think the same way. But again, we put in writing that we will port at 100k for simultaneous release. It's not something we can change now.
Creator Michele Mazza on May 20, 2012
Doesn't make much sense to promise game improvements only if the 100K goal is not achieved.
Since you said you would port to linux/mac anyway, only later, we can wait for the port and have an improved game.
As a linux user I find myself NOT wishing you reach the 100K goal.
Something is not right.
