Snake & Butterfly refines a premier selection of organic, fair-trade cocoa beans in small batches. Since 2007, we have hand-roasted and hand-poured a wide variety of award-winning bars and confections. As you can see from our video, we like to have fun and we enjoy what we do!

Our goal at Snake & Butterfly is to share our many passions with our customers. To that end, we are opening a retail and lounge space where people are invited to watch the chocolate making process, and to participate in it too. Once we're open for business we will begin to serve simple meals and showcase the work of other artisans.

So why do we need your help? After five years in business, we still love what we do. But during this time we’ve shared four different kitchens with other businesses.  It’s time for us to have a home of our own. Thankfully, we've finally found it! We’ll be located in the heart of the heart of the Silicon Valley, within walking distance of parks and other local shopping and dining.  To make our space a functioning reality we’ll need a lot of elbow grease and other boring things… Specifically, we need to paint and update the look of the cafe, purchase a cash register, display cabinets, and additional equipment to increase our chocolate and confection production.

What will this space look like? You can expect to find the typical accoutrements of a café: it comes fully stocked with tables, chairs, and catering equipment. To make the place our own, we’d like to add a loveseat or two as well as some bookcases filled with beloved books.  We will also have to have the lighting redone to accommodate the different types of chocolate production and dessert preparation we’ll need to do.  Your donation will help us reach our goal of opening the doors of our new space by early fall of 2012. 

On any given day at the lounge you can expect to experience a different adventure. Of course, there will always be someone making chocolate, cooking caramel or packaging our delectable treats.  You can also order a coffee and a pastry or bring a plate and have one of us make you lunch to take back to work.  If you have the time, you can step behind the counter and lend a hand!
