About this project

What Is An Incorrect Man?
An Incorrect Man is the story of John Wood, an ordinary family man and business owner who does something really, really, really bad. Worse than speeding, worse than driving while talking on a cell phone, worse than robbing a bank. He commits the cardinal sin of throwing away a soda can instead of recycling it. And then, after receiving a ticket, he does something even more outrageous. He decides to fight back. And that opens up the floodgates for comedy. His world is turned upside down and things snowball out of control, until he is forced to seek the help of a homeless street character known as "The Sac" who is legendary for manipulating the system with feats of legal jujitsu. Here is a scene taken from the script where John first meets The Sac.

Great stuff...but we need more! And that's where you come in. We’re raising funds to complete the screenplay and move into production. We’ve laid the groundwork for the project but we need your help to get us over the finish line. Reaching our Kickstarter goal will enable us to complete the screenplay and shift the production process into high gear.
From its inception, we’ve envisioned including the public as part of our funding base and using social media to raise awareness of this project. We want to be a “people’s film company,” so who better to invite to participate in the funding and share in our filmmaking process than YOU, the public.
Why We’re Doing It
Movies have the power to make us laugh or cry, to anger or inspire us, to move us, or just to provide escape. In the case of AN INCORRECT MAN, we intend to make you laugh (okay, reflect a bit too – but mostly laugh!) about the often amusing, occasionally head-scratching, sometimes maddening proliferation of political correctness we all read about and experience every day. Such as the true story of a 7-year-old girl in Portland, Oregon having her lemonade stand shut down for a business license violation.
As you may have guessed, the story does have political overtones. But we think just about everyone can see the foolishness of a 7-year-old having her lemonade stand shut down because she doesn’t have a business license. And what is more of an American rite of passage than a kid setting up a lemonade stand! If we lose this, we lose some essence of who we are.
There is a great tradition in filmmaking of movies about one man's effect on American politics—wonderful films like Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, The Candidate, and Wag the Dog, to name just a few. We aim to add our film to the list of those that entertain while engaging the public in current affairs.

How Does Kickstarter Work? Kickstarter is the largest funding platform for creative projects in the world. It’s a place where creators can post their projects and get pledges from people who want to help move the project forward. In fact, it's such a great concept that Time Magazine named Kickstarter one of the 50 Best Inventions of 2010. And a couple of Kickstarter funded films have seen exciting success. One of them, Sun Come Up, was among this year’s Oscar nominees for short documentary, and another film, The Woods, debuted at this year's Sundance Film Festival.
Here's how it works. We create a profile, set a fundraising goal and a time frame in which to meet it, and offer incentives for supporting us. That’s it in a nutshell. And Kickstarter is an all or nothing proposition, so the project must be fully funded before its time expires or no money changes hands. If a project isn't fully funded, no one pays anything.
How Do I Make a Pledge? It’s easy! Just click the green “Back This Project” button at the top of this project page. You’ll be asked to log in or sign up with Kickstarter. On the next page you’ll enter your pledge amount and select an incentive. From there you’ll go through the Amazon checkout process and complete your pledge with a major credit card. (Your credit card will only be charged when the project is funded.)
Can I Give an Incentive as a Gift? That’s a great idea! If you would like to donate to the film but give the incentive to someone else as a gift, just follow the process of making a donation in your name (for billing purposes the transaction must be in your name). After our deadline, we will send you a message via Kickstarter to the email address you provided. You’ll give us the contact information for the person you wish to receive the gift and that’s it! We’ll make sure the person receives the reward and knows it’s from you.
Can I Increase My Pledge After it’s Been Made? Absolutely! Go to Kickstarter and sign in. (If you go to our campaign page, the green “Back This Project” button has been replaced with a blue “Manage Your Donation” button.) Click it and you can enter a new amount and choose a new incentive!
What Happens if the Money Isn’t Raised in Time? Perish the thought! But if we don’t meet our goal, no money changes hands.
Can We Exceed the Goal? YES! We’d love it if you made that happen.
If the Goal is Exceeded, How Will the Money Be Used? All monies raised will go directly to the production of the film.
Can I Help You In Other Ways? Here's a simple way you can have a huge impact on our project. Help us spread the word by announcing our campaign to your family and friends. We encourage you to share our Kickstarter campaign by linking to it from your Facebook profile and via Twitter.
How Long Will it Take to Complete the Script? Once funded, the screenplay will be completed in 30 to 45 days. During that time we will also be delivering your incentives and moving the project closer to production.
If I Donate, When Can I Redeem the Incentive? Once the project is funded and the deadline passes, your name will appear on our website supporter page, Facebook, and Twitter, etc. within days. When the other incentives are ready, we will contact you by email to request any information we need to deliver your reward, and/or set up phone calls, Skype sessions, etc.
How Do We Contact You? Please go to this link on our website – Contact Us. We will get back to you very quickly.
* PA Package includes Supporter Credit.
*Supporter, Major Supporter, and Associate Producer credits will transfer to the film.
