Project to cover initial printing cost of a children's book I've completed and have orders. Eventually I wish to find a publisher. Until then...

HELP SAVE EDGAR! ...from not getting printed. \(*V*)/ Please consider supporting my effort here to raise enough money to self-publish this book.

Did you know the ice covering Antarctica can be up to 3 miles thick! An Emperor penguin may never touch land its entire life. If you read my book you'll learn lots of "cool" stuff like that and so much more! Help to support printing of my children's book project and you can give others the opportunity to be almost as smart as you! Edgar, and children around the world, are counting on your pledge. OK, me too.

I've been a professional landscape and wildlife photographer for more than 30 years. YIKES!! Over the past few years I've made four trips to Antarctica photographing the landscape, ice formations and wildlife in this part of the world. My last voyage was aboard a Russian icebreaker which, along with a helicopter, was required to reach an Emperor Penguin colony near Snow Hill Island located in the Weddell Sea.

I returned from that voyage with about 3,000 images of the penguins and their surroundings. Initially I edit down such a large collection to find a few select photographs to sell in my gallery which is in Park City, Utah. While going back through the collection recently I started to piece together images for what initially was going to be a coffee table style photo book.

During that review process the idea of a children's book about Emperor Penguins came to life and "Edgar" was born. He's the star of this book I've been working on over the past seven months and have finally finished. The story is about Edgar's first day out exploring his surroundings with some of his feathered friends, told with the photos and in his own words (I've done all the translation for anyone not speaking penguin). Along with those elements I decided to also make it more educational by adding facts pertaining to whatever was being shown on each page. Short video clips of the trip and of "Edgar" in action may be seen on my website. Click on a photo on the right side of the page at this link to watch each clip. http://www.westlight.net/snowhill_story.html

Eventually I hope to find a publisher to taken on the book but until that time I plan on self-publishing. I have copies already sold and I know it will sell here in my gallery. It's the printing cost of the first 250 copies that I hope to find support for here on Kickstarter. A preview may be seen on the Blurb Books site at this link. http://www.blurb.com/books/1307167

If you think this is a worthy project and if you see a "reward" that you like, in a price range you can afford, I hope you'll contribute. "Edgar's" survival depends on it! No pressure. \(*V*)/

All those other fabulous prizes PLUS...a DVD of edited video I shot of the entire voyage to photograph Edgar and his friends. Approximately 38 minutes. Enjoy your biscuit/s while you watch! It's a thriller, love story with a high speed chase (considering we're talking about penguins on ice). Experience the gut wrench crossing of the notoriously nasty DRAKE PASSAGE (Dramamine advised). As if that wasn't enough you'll witness an Emperor Penguin smack-down!

All that and more! How about a signed and numbered book!...but wait there's more! I'll throw in two more Penguin Biscuits! (Here's the Legal Stuff) No penguins were harmed in the making of these biscuits...as far as we know. (Offer limited to the first 100. Books that is, not biscuits.) OK so that's probably not going to be an issue but...

A private, 4 hour, photography lesson with me here in the mountains of Utah! You'll have to get here on your own. This reward is transferable, perhaps a nice gift for the photographer in your family? Of course you'll also get all of the above gifts a well.
