The Final Countdown—New Stretch Goals!
We're in the final push for the Pathfinder Online Technology Demo here on Kickstarter, and we're super pleased with the response so far—1,688 backers contributing $107,742, and still going up as I write this! Thanks to all of you who have backed our project already—we wouldn’t be here without you!
Being gamers, we love challenges, so we’ve lined up a series of stretch goals to take us to the finish line. This time around, we’ve gone with more traditional monetary challenges to spice things up! (Remember we still have the 2000 backer stretch goal as well!)
The first new stretch goal is $125,000. WHEN we reach that goal, we've got a special reward lined up. James Jacobs, Creative Director of Paizo Publishing and author of "Burnt Offerings" (the very first Pathfinder Adventure Path adventure) will create a new dungeon level that will be added to the PDF of Thornkeep. Everyone who's going to receive the PDF of Thornkeep—that's everybody who has pledged at least $15—will automatically get this upgrade!
But wait! There's more!
IF the community overwhelms the project with pledges and we reach $150,000, ERIK MONA will write a new level for the Thornkeep PDF too! Erik is the Publisher at Paizo, and the author of “The Whispering Cairn,” one of the most beloved Dungeon magazine adventures of all time. It has been almost impossible to get Erik to design adventures lately because of how busy his job is, so this is a treat worth getting the word out for!
And just as with the previously announced Jason Bulmahn stretch goal, you Kickstarters will get to determine the themes for the dungeons they write—polls will open at the end of the Kickstarter campaign!
AND ONE MORE THING!
If the project reaches $175,000 before the Kickstarter closes, we'll add all the additional dungeon levels—the Bulmahn level from the first stretch goal, plus the Jacobs and Mona levels from today's goals, to the printed edition of Thornkeep, substantially increasing the size of the book! Anybody who slated to get the printed Thornkeep book—that's pledges of $50 or more—will get the larger book at no additional cost!
How Can You Help?
We've been watching some very interesting trends over the past couple of weeks. Almost 3,500 people have "Liked" the Kickstarter project on Facebook, but we have pledges from only about half that many people! Let's get the other half of those people to sign up! If you're on Facebook, chances are that you are friends with someone who is interested in this project, in Pathfinder Online, or in Pathfinder in general. Make a post on your wall about why you're supporting this Kickstarter, and start a conversation—get your social network involved!
Are you a participant on a discussion forum about games, MMOs, or RPGs? Start a thread there in the next couple of days about these stretch goals. Just talking about the project in places where others might be interested in it is a great way to create excitement and grow the circle of communication!
Things are heating up here at Goblinworks central—Rich Baker has turned over almost all of the Thornkeep manuscript, and we've approved Wayne Reynolds' thumbnail sketch for the cover art, reproduced below! Now we need you to get things rocking here on our Kickstarter project! If we all work together, we can not only get James, Jason, and Erik to take time out of their busy schedules to give us new adventure content, but we can get it added to the printed book! We can’t wait to see what you guys cook up to help us reach these stretch goals.
OK, goblins, the clock is ticking!

It seems to me the new strech goals are much more attractive. It got me to finally upgrade my contribution from the pdf version to the printed autographed version.
Now I rely on other people here to drive towards the $175K. Come on - we will manage !!

If we're switching to a monetary goal, allowing high end backers the opportunity to feature in some way in the fiction is a sure way to attract fans. Perhaps allowing their characters to be immortalized as a minor NPC, allowing them to write a line of dialogue or to name a featuring NPC or location. Such opportunities were used in the Journey Quest kickstarter campaigns which we're great successes.
Fans love a touch of infamy ^^

The $125,000 and $150,000 goals don't rely on reaching 2000 backers in any way.
If we reach the $175,000 goal, Jason will do his dungeon level for the book even if we don't hit 2000 backers.
Effectively, then, there are now two ways to get Jason's level added to Thornkeep: reach 2000 backers, or reach $175,000. In the former case, the level will be PDF only; in the latter case, it will be printed in the book as well.

Since these new stretch goals are $$ related and not # of backers related, if (on the off-chance) the number of backers doesnt hit 2000, but the $$$ does reach these new stretch goals, will we still get these extra levels?
