Oakland Art Murmur's First Friday Gallery Walk started in 2006 and has since grown to become a major monthly event that takes place on the same night as Oakland First Fridays. Collectively the two events now draw 10-20,000 people throughout Oakland each month. 

In 2012 the Oakland Art Murmur Gallery Association exhibited over 1200 artists in nearly 300 exhibitions. Our galleries encourage engagement with visual art in Oakland by opening their doors to the public at more than 30 opening receptions and 10-20 Saturday special events each month.

The galleries who organize these events have received press across the nation and beyond. Now OAM wants to tell its story, but we also want to hear your story - we want to send film crews out to interview not only founders and members but viewers. We want to discover and capture what OAM is, who comes to OAM events, and why? What makes it special? What does OAM add to Oakland and its communities?

Oakland Art Murmur is pleased to be partnering with Bay Area Video Coalition on this project. BAVC is an amazing non-profit entity that inspires social change by enabling the sharing of diverse stories through art, education and technology. They have an incredible youth training program that both empowers young people and teaches them valuable professional skills. Your contribution will support both OAM and BAVC.
