EJKEI es el primer documental de larga duración realizado sobre la historia del skateboarding en Puerto Rico. El documental muestra la trayectoria de esta actividad desde 1970 hasta el 2010 a través de destacadas figuras en este campo. Es la primera vez que se investiga y reúne una gran cantidad de material visual, audio-visual y de historia oral sobre esta práctica en Puerto Rico. De esta manera, EJKEI traza un panorama del pasado, del presente y del futuro de esta actividad así como un perfil de aquellos quienes lo practican.
El título del documental EJKEI: Un documental sobre skateboarding en Puerto Rico juega con el lenguaje y su fonética, plasmando de manera cómica a la vez que sutil la apropiación de la palabra en inglés “skate”. Resulta ser un comentario sobre la criollización de esta actividad a manos (y pies) de los corredores del patio.
REVOLT FILMS ha hecho este documental con muy pocos recursos. Nos encontramos en la etapa de post-producción y su colaboración será utilizada para cubrir gastos de edición, corrección de color, corrección de audio y derechos de autor, entre otros. La película se lanzará a fines de 2011.

EJKEI is the first documentary about the history of skateboarding in Puerto Rico. The film follows the evolution of skateboarding from the early 1970’s to the present through the eyes of various Puerto Rican skateboarders. It is the first time that so much historical footage and testimonies come together for a film about skateboarding in the island. EJKEI traces a past, a present and the future of this culture in Puerto Rico.
The title of the documentary EJKEI comes from the phonetic pronunciation of the word SKATE, as said by Puerto Rican skateboarders. It plays with the sound, directly translating an English word into Spanish.
REVOLT FILMS ended up doing an independent production with a single camera and a crew of two people. Right now we are in the post-production phase, and your collaboration will be used to cover expenses that include editing, audio mastering, color correction and licensing rights. The film is scheduled to be released in Puerto Rico towards the end of 2011.
