Charlotte's Brandon Kirkley and the Firecrackers are trying to finish their new rock'n'roll album & they want you to be a part of it!
Brandon Kirkley and the Firecrackers began working on their newest album all the way back in 2010. It's been an interesting and inspiring journey thus far, so we decided to give y'all the opportunity to hop on the train if you believe in what we're doing!
Pre-production began that summer, when we headed down to Greenville, SC to record the first 2 tracks with the best singer & songwriter we know, Justin Land. Both tracks were then mixed and mastered by the brilliant Brandon 'Swaff' Swafford, who is producing/engineering/mixing/mastering the final 5 cuts for the album at The Delivery Room in Atlanta, GA in January.
With Chris Hensley - the faithful, youthful and long-locked bassist, David Hole - the lead-guitar Holester himself, and Joey West - studio drummer extraordinaire, we're getting some remarkable tones and a product we're extremely proud of. We more importantly, want you to be proud of it. This is by far the best product we've ever put our time and talents into and we think you're gonna be quite impressed. We can't wait for you to get it in your hands...and to see the live show that follows!
Working through scheduling conflicts, countless hours spent holed up in our practice space and curveballs thrown by the ever-surprising life - we're finally nearing completion on this long-awaited album!
Shooting for a grand ole' album release party in Charlotte in March 2012, we've got the tiniest bit of time on our side. We've also got a nice chunk of change invested in this album, with a solid hunk left to get this sucker finished! We started with an empty bank account, saved as much as possible and we're still climbing that hill to the finish line...
We've always been a very DIY sort of band. From songwriting, to booking, to designing graphics - with the help of some of our best friends, family and fans - we've built this ourselves. If you've been involved, YOU ARE BKTF. We're so grateful for all of you and this amazing opportunit.
So, that brings us to the Kickstarter campaign. We've seen numerous friends and talented, creative artists have very, very successful experiences using Kickstarter and decided we'd give it a go ourselves. We think we've come up with some pretty neat rewards that will be well worth it.
If you've never done a Kickstarter before, here's a quick little bit on how it works:
• We offer y'all different levels of perks and involvement with our project
• You decide at which level you'd like to give
• You pledge an amount, and when the campaign is over, you'll get your perks and we'll get the donation!
• Now here's the most critical part: If we don't meet our goal, we don't get any of the donations at all and y'all don't receive any of the exciting rewards. Then it takes us much longer to get the album finished and get on the road to play for you!
It's totally safe and secure, and is a WIN-WIN tool for everyone! If you're skeptical, please read the reviews and all the successful campaigns and visit the Kickstarter FAQ's (http://www.kickstarter.com/help/faq/kickstarter%20basics).
We imagine you're interested in a breakdown of what you're supporting:
• Producing, recording, engineering, mastering: $5400
• Musicians: $450
• Travel: $300
• First pressing the album: $1300
• TOTAL cost of project: approximately $7,450
You're our executive producer. You're our record company on this one. You're who we make the music for - without you, we're just playing in our bedrooms. Thank you for everything - for your love, kindness, and support over the years. We're giving it all we've got…here's to all of us!
We've emptied our personal savings, exhausted money from shows, and we've got a chunk of change to get the final product in all of our hands. We've set our initial goal at $1500. That should help us out...if we meet it, we're gonna keep going and find some more cool stuff and add more rewards for y'all!
With love from every bit of our hearts,
BK & the Firecrackers
