Since 2006 Paul Miller has been working with Circus Pimparello of Germany to expose kids to more than their neighborhoods...
The mission of Circus Mojo is to teach and present the circus arts with a fresh perspective and encourage everyone to express their unique mojo - talent, zeal, confidence, drive and spirit!
Please help us fund our tour in Germany this summer as we demonstrate how to use circus as a tool for development. Circus Pimparello/German Social Exchange will be funding half of this trip. We will be taking some kids from Ludlow, KY who have never flown on a plane or been outside the USA BUT who have great circus skills!
In 2011 we hosted 15 performers from Germany in Ludlow, KY....
We work to serve the community in three main ways: empowerment, outreach and development.
Empowerment - circus arts promote an "I Can" attitude, helping to build confidence, teamwork and positive risk-taking. Developing these arts even further can also provide job skills - we provide employment for our apprentices, giving them a skill set that is immediately applicable!
Community outreach - our home base is in Ludlow, KY, but our stage is anywhere we can hang a top hat. We currently provide programming to patients at Children's Hospital, residents at the Northern Kentucky Children's Home, adults with disabilities from Catholic Residential Services, and students from SCPA, Ludlow and other area schools.
Development - in addition to personal and social development, we are also creating a nuts and bolts, physical real estate development. We have rehabilitated the old property at 322 Elm into a 300-seat theater and will soon be creating a Circus Vocational Training Center in Ludlow, KY! The idea is to provide a valuable community resource as well as a destination point to help stimulate business in downtown Ludlow.
There is another facet to this Kickstarter campaign - If you can not attend the show in person, you can still share the Mojo - please help us make this the event of the year for Ludlow, the performers.
