About this project
Non-Event is celebrating its 11th anniversary in 2012, and we've got big plans as we head into our second decade. We're asking for your support to help us continue to produce top-notch experimental music in and around Boston.
2011 marked our 10th year and we mounted our most ambitious season to date. We organized 30 concerts over the course of the year, featuring some of the finest sound artists, improvisers, and experimental musicians from Boston and around the world. We also started working with some super-cool new venues, such as the Modern Theatre at Suffolk University, the Boston Center for the Arts' Plaza Theater, MIT's CUBE, Studio Soto, Aviary, and more. It was quite a year!

Our plans are just as ambitious for our upcoming season, but we need your help as we go to eleven in 2012.
Your contribution to this Kickstarter campaign will help us take care of all the things, both big and small, that allow us to make great concerts happen: artist fees, venue rental, audio equipment, sound tech, web site hosting, graphic design, and so on. We're also offering some lovely premiums to sweeten the deal. Check those out to the right....
Already we have some choice concerts and coffee houses that we're working on for 2012 with artists like Phill Niblock, Lasse Marhaug, Alvin Curran, Belarisk, C. Spencer Yeh, Greg Kelley, Leif Elggren + C.M. von Hausswolff, and Thomas Köner. We'll be adding concerts to our schedule as they are confirmed in the weeks and months to come.

Non-Event is an independent concert series, organized by Susanna Bolle, Benjamin Nelson, and Ernst Karel, with the help of a talented group of volunteers (including Shadowselves, who so generously made the video for this campaign).
We are also an official 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organization (we just got our notice from the IRS on January 9 -- hurray!), so your donations to Non-Event are tax deductible!

I have been one of the organizers of the Non-Event experimental music series in Boston, Massachusetts since 2003. In addition to Non-Event, I have also worked as a freelance multimedia and music journalist (covering experimental and electronic music) and am the longtime host of the weekly Rare Frequency radio program on WZBC 90.3 FM in Newton, MA.
