Help us take Death Boogie to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the largest arts festival in the world! http://www.edfringe.com/
Death Boogie, is a hip hop poetry musical and inter-disciplinary project that works on many levels: as a concept album, a comic book, and a theatrical production. Most importantly Death Boogie is a metaphor for having the courage to stand up and fight for what you believe in, in spite of the risk. Coincidentally, in the last year, there's been quite a lot of Death Boogie going on all over the world - a global Death Boogie, if you will. Citizens of the world getting their righteous groove on. The Death Boogie team feels that as Americans we have an opportunity to contribute to the international conversation that's happening all over the world and that is at the root of our project.
In order to reach a larger audience and spread Death Boogie far and wide we'd like to take the show to the largest Arts Festival in the world….The Edinburgh Fringe Festival! Each year at the festival thousands of artists from all over the planet come together to share ideas, create, learn, and inspire one another. Getting to Edinburgh would mean having a chance to share our art, our message, and our talents with an international community of artists and to contribute to the big picture conversation. Edinburgh is also a place to be seen by international producers and funders that can help take the project to other corners of the world, allowing Death Boogie to reach even further!
The project has come a long way in a short amount of time from our residency at the Dance Theater Workshop in conjunction with Urban Word NYC, now known as New York Arts Live. We’ve had excellent turn outs, standing ovations, great reviews, and the show keeps getting better! But we’re not stopping there….and that’s where we need you!
Airfare, lodging, venue rental, and cost of living for an entire month abroad add up quickly but with YOUR support, we CAN reach our goal! Give what you can and even more importantly, help SPREAD THE WORD. Share us with your friends and family on facebook and twitter, tell your colleagues at work, pass the word to other artists and arts lovers, and help us inspire others to stand up for what they believe in.
The theme of Death Boogie is ultimately about having courage no matter how difficult the goal may be. Everyone involved in Death Boogie agrees that this is a project worth taking a risk for. So we're rising to the challenge, giving it that old college try, and daring to dream. Dream with us. Your donations can help us do that. Collectively, we can all make a difference and help share Death Boogie with the world. Everyone can get their Death Boogie on!
