About this project
Thus far on The Trip for Life, I have explored a large part of the continental United States in search of technologies, techniques and cultural adaptations to help build a better, more sustainable future. And with little more than some modest AV equipment (some of which I made myself,) my savings, my wits and the support of my friends and family I have made great progress towards this goal, producing 17 episodes and a lot of supplementary material to go along with them. There are dozens more episodes that I want to produce, including at least 15 based upon subjects to the west of the Mississippi. But in order to tackle the western half of the US, I need more funding to pay for food, gas, lodging, repairs and general expenses related to keeping my car running and on the road. I will also be using some of the funds to replace some equipment that has suffered from entropy over my recent travels, and to modestly upgrade a few pieces in order to increase the quality of my work. Of course, I will use a portion of the funds to produce the rewards that I have promised for my contributors. And finally, I need some of the money to keep me fed and housed while I edit the video, after I return. My goal, long term, is to gather together enough information and material to produce a documentary based upon my travels that will provide a concrete plan of what technologies and adaptations we can use to build a better, more sustainable future, and how we can accomplish that goal together.
