This may be the first original, independent American movie musical ever made. At least I can't think of another. It came out of the intense frustration of trying to get something, anything made in early 21st Century American cinema. 

Also, looking around, I've been struck by the personal turmoil so many people seem to be going through. I've seen more divorces, births, deaths, marriages and career-loss in the last two years than in my whole life. Something is clearly in the air and I wanted to put it all together in this story.

I also want to bring joy back to the movies. The culture has been filled with angry, assaultive works of stress that confuse drama with trauma. I remember when going to the movies was a euphoric experience. But this isn't a throwback. It's a throw forward. 

With nine original songs, featuring the extraordinary music of D.D. Jackson, and an ensemble cast of brilliant actors, Hollywood Musical! is something unique that aims to make you feel great without feeling dumb. 

When life is hard, you've gotta laugh. You've gotta cry. You've gotta burst into song.
