Cameron McGill & What Army wants you to join in helping us complete our fifth studio album, Is A Beast.
Here's to hoping you appreciate brevity, or at least our attempt at it.
The band and I are in the final stages of completing our fifth full-length studio album, Is A Beast. We began work on it last November 2009 in Milwaukee, WI, with engineer Justin Perkins. We have continued to work on it throughout this year (between three tours of the U.S.) in Milwaukee, Madison, and basements and bedrooms across the Midwest.
We have self-financed all our previous releases (four LPs, two EPs and one 7" single) over the past seven years. So you know, all of the tracking for this new album has been completed. We find ourselves in the final stage of completing mixing, mastering and duplication of the album. This final stage encompasses the album's release as well, which is planned for early May 2011. With this completion comes a significant final round of expenses, expenses that we are not able to manage at this time. And by "we" I mean "I."
Should you choose to join us on this, we plan on spending the funds as follows: the first portion will go towards final mixing expenses, the second towards mastering, and the third towards duplication/promotion. We are setting our funding limit at $3,000, but should we exceed this, and sweet Luckdragon I hope we do, we will be putting the funds towards more promotion of the record, as well as a possible limited vinyl release or another 7" single.
We have put together some thoughtful rewards for those donating at all levels, and for folks interested in both the new material and old. As Ira Glass mentioned during one NPR pledge drive, and I am paraphrasing: We will not go off the air if you do not pledge. This album will be released, it just might take a bit more time and gambling to get it done. We want to do it right AND get it released in a timely fashion. Yes, fashion.
Prior to your pledge, as with any good patron of the arts, you'll want to know more about what it is you are supporting...Thus, you may take a listen to some of the songs that will be on the new album by going here:
The songs "Dead Rose", and "I Don't Believe In Magic (but all my friends just disappeared)" are available on our Facebook Bandpage and will be included on Is A Beast.
**Attention International Backers**
We love you, but due to the cost of shipping the rewards, please kindly add an additional $10 to your pledge. Thank you!!
Thank you for your consideration and ears!
