Financing the completion of my first collection of essays, "Marco Polo", at the Atlantic Center for the Arts.
This funding, if I'm lucky enough to receive it, will go directly towards financing the completion of my first collection of essays at the Atlantic Center for the Arts. All of the essays in the collection have been labored over -- some for as long as four years. My invitation to the center comes from the amazingly talented poet and memoirist Nick Flynn, who, if I am able to get myself to Florida in mid-October, will assist me in the process of turning my manuscript into a publishable, cohesive book. It's a rare opportunity, one akin to an unsigned rock musician getting to record in the studio of her favorite band.
"The Atlantic Center for the Arts is a nonprofit, interdisciplinary artists' community and arts education facility dedicated to promoting artistic excellence by providing talented artists an opportunity to work and collaborate with some of the world's most distinguished contemporary artists in the fields of music composition, and the visual, literary, and performing arts. Community interaction is coordinated through on-site and outreach presentations, workshops and exhibitions."
