Hurrah! We made it! Time for stretch goals!
Great news everyone! We managed to smash through our target in just two short weeks. The whole team is dancing around the room in celebration. We are so excited. For the first time ever, we have full creative control of a Broken Sword game, and it's all down to you. We cannot thank you enough for your generous support!
It has been a thrilling ride, and we still have two whole weeks to go. So we are delighted to be able to announce our stretch goals. When a Broken Sword game is conceived, Charles' vision is inevitably too expensive and too ambitious to make. With your help, we'd like to rip up the rulebook and add more content, more characters, and more gameplay to bring you the most epic Broken Sword adventure yet!
Here's our plan:
Our cutting room floor is littered with characters, puzzles, Easter eggs, art, and dialogue - we'd love to bring them back. Reaching this goal will allow us to sweep these up and enrich the game with hours of extra gameplay!
When Charles first proposed the Serpent’s Curse he devised a whole swathe of adventuring in the exotic cradle of civilisation, exploring lost ruins and uncovering long forgotten secrets. We thought this was far too ambitious, but when we reach this goal, we can take George and Nico to these thrilling locations packed with fun, danger, and monkeys! (Pick two.)
The Broken Sword universe is full of colourful, beloved characters, and we are already bringing many of them back for the Serpent's Curse. However, we would love to do much more! If we reach this goal, we can add dastardly antagonists and bring back old favourites such as Pearl, Duane, and many more. Do you want to see the return of the infamous goat? If we reach this target, you can! Of course these characters will come with lively dialogue, intriguing puzzles, and hidden Easter eggs that we know you love. Furthermore, we will add a Director’s commentary option. Reaching this goal would allow us to stretch beyond what we thought was possible. With your support, we will be able to realise our wildest ambitions for Broken Sword: the Serpent’s Curse!
So where can we take you after fulfilling our ambition? We do dream - if we are fortunate enough to get close then we will define these concepts.
For many years we have wanted to write a sequel to our 1994 classic adventure. If we reach this goal we will start work on this exciting, much-demanded project, and implement Easter eggs in Broken Sword: the Serpent's Curse, offering a glimpse of this futuristic dystopia. But, to be clear, all money raised through this Stretch Goal will be spent doing even more amazing things in Broken Sword - the Serpent's Curse.

attempting to play Diablo 3 on an old laptop was optimistic of you. however, in this case you should be fine. A largely 2D point and click adventure should not have such requirements

Please dont make the graphics quality of the pc version of BS5 so good that I cant play it on my laptop. I signed up to the annual pass for World of Warcraft so I could get Diablo 3 for free. After the overnight download I found I could not install the game as my laptops graphics card was not good enough.
Now I am paranoid that any new game being released will not work on my 2 year old laptop

I donated as much as I could today, really excited about BS5 and I am proud to say I helped bring this game to be as good as it can be.
I loved the previous BS games, Shadow of the Templars being my favourite and I hope the money I spent will help bring BS5 to the same level. BTW - Brilliant idea making BS5 2D, so much better than 3D :)

I think its a misconception to assume that more content automatically improves the end experience.
There is the danger that adding extra characters and locations for the sake of indulgence and esoterism will simply bloat the game. Sometimes less is more.
I'd much rather see the extra funds go to making serpent's curse a success e.g. increased advertising and promotion.
I also found it cheeky that you ask additional money ($25) for the Android version. Backers cared enough to vote with their wallets to help make this game happen, the least you could do is let them play it on their mobile. Lastly, I would go as far to say that it was be a travesty if you don't make available for the iPad as it seemed it was tailoered made for it.

I believe "Beneath a Steel Sky 2" deserves a kickstarter on their own. Some people might not associate BASS with BS series and are unaware of this... or maybe even unwilling to make a pledge. No information is known about it so I can understand people would be hesitant to pledge if that would be their only goal.

Revolution have already stated that giving Beneath a Steel Sky 2 will not take money away from this campaign. People seem to be misunderstanding the concept of it being a bonus goal to 'greenlight' BASS2. That is, they won't be making BASS2 using the money from this campaign, but they will be making it! And if this campaign goes well I can imagine Revolution using Kickstarter again to fund BASS2.
It's probably worth repeating Tony's (from Revolution) comment... again:
"[The Bonus Stretch] gives us confidence to start thinking, planning and designing - a green light! We'd do a first screen and include it in BS5 to let people see the art style, and so on. It'd certainly not drain any financial resource from this kickstarter, which is all about making the best Broken Sword :)"
So... Now we can get back to being excited about Broken Sword - the Serpent's Curse Adventure!

There are people here that are jumping on the neck of others if they give an opinion that goes against *the rules* of these , what I call , loud mouths.
Everyone is entitled to his or here own opinions; in the Western world this is called freedom of speech.
So people that have problems with the large and exotic stretch goals and are being jumped on by these fanaticals if they dare to out criticism, you do have a choice because there isn't anything mandatory about your pledges on kickstarter.
You still have 14 days to drop your pledges to a lower pledge or to wipe your pledges...

Those would be ADDITIONAL locations. When you design a game, due to limitations such as time, money or team members, you have to scale the game down. With $650,000, they can bring those things back into the game.

800k is definitely possible but it will depend on paypal. But to be honest I don't like the 800k goal (and the 1mio goal is amazing but it sounds too big to put it in a stretch goal) I don't need to see all these characters again. It doesn't sound like stuff we really need for this story. 650k would sound perfect to me !

you misunderstand - folks interested in BaSS will be pledging money to reach $1mil, but in the process are making it more likely that BS will reach it's stretch goals.
The fact is it's highly unlikely that 800k, let alone 1 mil, will be reached - therefore all those BaSS contributors are simply helping BS.

To all the moaners and bitches about the $1m stretch goal: this is obviously for BASS fans and fans of adventure games in general who simply want to see MORE games coming on the horizon. If you dont care about BASS then simply stop pledging when they reach $800k .. no 1 is making you fight for the $1 mil. And if the majority of people really dont care about it then they probably wont reach it. On the other hand if they do reach this goal, you dont have any right to complain because you're still getting what YOU pledged for, the fact that others piled on more money for something THEY wanted has NO EFFECT on YOUR pledge.

If I could spare $10.000, I would pledge it without any second thought. I am just baffled what Revolution Sofware does here. This company is one of the last few remaining "honorable" companies in the gaming industry that I can think of. They actually get down to their customers and show that they love their games (and making them) at least as much as we enjoy playing them. And they give us the possibility to forge the future of these franchies. The total contrary to companies like EA that just flood the market with uninspired sequels, year after year, one after another. Money talks.
Here it feels like the long forgotten "By Gamers For Gamers" paradigm. I love Broken Sword, I love Beneath A Stell Sky, I can't express how much I want sequels to both of them. Keep going Revolution Sofrware, you have my eternal support.

If it was really just a BONUS STRETCH - it would be at the same level as the 800,000 goal. If it needs more $200,000... that's not really a bonus - that's $200,000.
