Elena Avila, RN, MSM, Curandera, was interviewed for this film. As both a Curandera and a practicing nurse, Elena taught a holistic approach that included ceremonies that assist the dying such as Limpia, or spiritual cleansing, treating Susto, or soul fright, and Platicas, or heart-to-heart talks, to enable the dying person to release their body with joy and peace. In the tradition of Curanderismo, death is seen not as an end but as a stage in a constant cycle of living and dying.

      Karen and Holand - This clip is only 9 seconds long... I thought it was a poignant piece in that she says we need to cling to nothing so we have nothing to defend.
