PopView 3D Moon Map Delivery Update
In response to the many reasonable requests for a status update, please allow me to bring everyone up to speed. At 1:36 pm today I received confirmation from the print facility that the maps are scheduled to be printed tomorrow between 12:00 and 2:00 pm. I will be on site to verify the accuracy of the 3D printing. The artwork on the 3D glasses was approved last week and they should be shipped out from the west coast later this week. Most everything else is good to go. For example, a very special element was fabricated and shipped from China last month - everyone receiving anything physical (map, glasses, etc. - basically $15 and up) will be receiving one. 'Nuff said. There are plenty of other extras being shipped as well. I have tried to reflect your substantial support by providing to all of you at a level substantially above what was promised.
The only remaining obstacle is receiving delivery of the map tubes in which the physical maps will be delivered. These tubes are very cool and have been on back order but will be sent out tomorrow via UPS. I won't send out anything until all of the map tubes are filled, addressed and ready to go. An FTP site has been established to get everyone their digital copy. Bottom line, I expect everything to go out early next week.
I hope you will all sign up for the Facebook "PopView Map of the Moon" page (if you haven't already) and share your feelings/thoughts about the map. I plan to use the page as a forum to discuss some of the interesting facets of the map, answer your questions, etc. I am also looking to plan a meet-up in NYC in the near future to hand out copies of the map and spend some time with fellow space lovers.
Based on the feedback we have received thus far, I think the map is a home run and I can't wait to share it with one and all. I am currently working to make sure that additional copies of the map will be available from Amazon.com so that every backer can hold a copy (or additional copies) of the map as the spirit moves them.
Sit tight and stay excited - I know I am. Cheers.
