Songs are living, breathing, evolving things and if you don't provide
the necessary nutrients and growing conditions, they can die. I
have a current set of particularly restless songs that have provided
me with a list of demands. These songs are at once accessible, deeply
personal, and sometimes tongue in cheek. They employ narrative lyric
arcs, melodic hooks and constantly changing asymmetrical meters and
present certain challenges to the performer.

Introducing: Dylan Champagne and the Lost Explorers, a rock trio I
have formed to appease the song gods. I've got an amazing rhythm
section: the incomparable Andre Custodio (Say Bok Gwai, Charles Unger)
on drums and the astounding John Shiurba (The Molecules, Eskimo,
Anthony Braxton) on bass. Some people may remember that we played a
show together last Fall at the Hotel Utah.
