Los Angeles musical pioneers Spindrift need your help to record their next album at Hicksville Trailer Palace in Joshua Tree, CA.

“Classic Soundtracks” will be Spindrift’s 4th full-length album to date and will feature various soundtrack themes inspired and written in the desert. Echoes of Bollywood...Nancy Sinatra & Lee Hazelwood...The Doors....Ennio Morricone....surf rock....Fleetwood Mac....Gram Parsons...native American and western cowboy music...captured as a musical resume for Spindrift's forays into Soundtrack works.

We have finished the pre-production phase and have signed to Xemu Records to release the album in Spring 2011. We will be on tour for the next several weeks, performing all the new songs we will be recording. Our final tour date is on Dec. 4 at Pappy & Harriet’s in Pioneertown, CA with recording to immediately follow.

The songs will be tracked and documented at Hicksville Studio Dec 4-12, 2010. Engineer Ethan Allen (Gram Rabbit) will be mixing and editing the record and Steve Kille from Dead Meadow will assist. The studio at Hicksville Trailer Palace was chosen for the recording because of its unique setting and quiet inspirational desert atmosphere. Spindrift will be the first band to record a full-length album there and we are incredibly excited!

While it is our dream to record at Hicksville, it is also beyond our means. So we decided to try and raise a minimum portion of the cost of making this record here on Kickstarter. Our goal is $5000 but our actual costs are much higher. We’ve already paid a deposit on the studio but we need the balance plus the pittance we are paying our very talented engineers. If we manage to raise more (and we hope we do!) we might be able to pay these people what they deserve! Any money beyond that would allow us to hire someone to properly document the whole recording process, and we hope to use this footage for various video projects, including “trailers” for the soundtracks we record.

Remember, we have to reach the $5000 goal or we don’t get any of it! Please spread the word, chip in what you can (minimum pledge is only $1) and enjoy some of the incentives we have put together as a small thank you for helping us make this record. We can’t do it without you!
