Shiro at work
We're thrilled to say we met our funding goal, thanks to all of you! Shiro has been hard at work practicing her autograph; it's not something dogs are used to. As you can see from the photo, however, she's come many miles from this morning's first attempts, which were mostly blurry splotches.
Our book release performance at the Tucson Festival of Books was a complete success. The Prince Elementary and Amphi Middle School students rocked the house with their renditions of tunes from Asako's story.
We gave about 100 copies of the books to the kids, and sold about 40. Most of the remainder will go to our partner school libraries and the Tucson Pima Public Library system. A signed copy was featured in the silent auction at the Governor's Arts Awards last Tuesday and three Tucson businesses have asked to make the book available at their locations: Antigone Books, the Johrei Fellowship and Sushi Yukari.
We have 57 hours left, and ask if you know of anyone who would like to support this project, send them our way. Any money in excess of our goal will go towards printing another 100 books to distribute more widely.
AND, stay tuned for further adventures of our plucky hero Asako and her magical sidekick, Shiro. Thank you for your support!
