Update #7: Thank you for making Learnapalooza 2011 a success!
Hello everyone,
First off, let me apologize for taking a little while to post this update. I came down with a summer cold right after the event. After spending a day with hundreds of people who would have thought that would happen.
Now on to the good news...
We had 22 venues, 65 teachers, 96 classes, and 400-500 attendees. All and all, it was a fantastic day. If you had the chance to attend, we hope you had as much fun as we did.
What now? Well you should...
- Post pictures on Facebook and tag them as Learnapalooza (you have to Like our page first, then just pick a corner of the picture and tag it as Learnapalooza)
- Please fill out our survey here. We want to hear about your experience, and your suggestions. Your feedback is very important for helping us grow and improve. It only takes 5 minutes, and survey respondents will be entered to win a Learnapalooza shirt and button.
- Are you interested in getting involved in planning, teaching, or hosting Learnapalooza 2012? Let us know now, and we can get you involved from the beginning. It takes a lot of hands and minds to make this a success each year. Be part of Learnaplooza 2012. Email brian@learnapaloozachi.com to learn more.
- Keep the free learning going by signing up with our partner project CommuniTeach (or just sign-in if you RSVP'd for Learnapalooza classes). Sign up now so you're in the loop, and email sarah@communiteach.com if there's particular skill you want to learn or share.
Thanks again to all the hosts, teachers, volunteers, attendees, and supporters. You all helped make this festival great!

Update #6: Learnapalooza is tomorrow!
Tomorrow is the second annual Learnapalooza. We know you are excited so we'll keep this short.
Fun stuff:
- In addition to the article about us in Time Out Chicago, we've also been featured in the redeye.
- SoBe (yup, the drink company) will have a stand outside of the Wicker Park Art Center where you can play games, sing, rap (what?) and try some of their stuff.
Important stuff:
- Classes will run from 10 am - 5 pm. You can check the online schedule or grab a hand-out at your first venue.
- Online RSVPs close at 6pm today! Be sure to RSVP to ensure your spot. If you forget, many classes will have some room for walk-ins. Stop by and check in with us.
- Take public transportation if possible - the Green Fest is on Damen the same day, so parking and driving will be challenging.
- The After School Special happy-hour will be at Swig (1469 N. Milwaukee). Have your day-of program in-hand and receive 25% off all food and drink. Come celebrate a successful festival with us and brag about what you learned.
- Take lots of pictures! Attend classes! Have fun! Tweet out updates using the hashtag #lapchi.
One last thing, we want to say thank you again for your support. Thanks to our sponsors, WPB (the Wicker Park/Bucktown SSA), Communiteach, and the Wicker Park Art Center. Thanks to our hosts and our teachers.
And thanks for loving to learn!
See you tomorrow!
