Over the $35,000 mark!
Good News: We are two-thirds of the way there! I am so grateful to each and every one of you who are backing An Article of Hope.
Even better news: There is truly something special happening here. Take the story of my friend Ray, who came to FilmFest DC to see the film. He was so moved by the story, he said it was something he wanted his children to see. He was so supportive of our plan to bring it to national TV and then to schools around the world, that he blasted an email to just about everyone he knows and next week is hosting a Kickstarter fundraiser.
Marc in Connecticut has been on the phone with me constantly, brainstorming ways to make this happen. He’s been one of the film’s strongest advocates and an architect of the Kickstarter effort. Last night he had a fundraiser at his home for nearly 30 people. I dropped by via Skype to talk with him and his friends.
Just about everyone knows Miles O’Brien, one of the most knowledgeable journalists in the world about space. He sent an email to many of his colleagues in the space community and shared it with space bloggers.
And up north, in Canada, there is the amazing Marty. Marty has a personal connection to the film, because he was friends with Ilan Ramon. Ramon was a hero in so many ways, and there are many stories that can be told about him. Marty knows that this story – the story of the “article of hope” that Ramon carried with him into space – is the one that Ilan would want to be told for generations to come. I can’t say enough!
People all around the world are contributing, and then sharing with their friends. Every backer, everywhere, helped us get to where we are today. THANK YOU!
BUT, we are not home yet. We have just 13 days to raise the remaining $15,000. Since this is an “all or nothing” venture, please spread the word!
In my next update, another behind the scenes moment. I will share with you the story behind the artist who sketched the concentration camp scenes in the film, along with a clip from that part of the film.
