We started this journey over two years ago, and now we need your help to get Curse of the Merch Girl out to the world!
Not just that, but to do it in a BIG way.
YUMIKO: Curse of the Merch Girl is both a collection of 10 NEW SONGS from the one and only Murs and a full length graphic novel (broken into 10 correlating chapters), written by Josh Blaylock with art by amazing newcomer Jose Garcia and colors by Jose and Juan Urueta.
We also just added amazing download cards & prints to the offerings, featuring art by DAVID MACK and JIM MAHFOOD!
DJ Foundation (the Insects) provides the beats to each track, and Juan Urueta assists Garcia on colors, featuring a short segment by Dahia.

Unlike most comic book projects on Kickstarter this ENTIRE story is DONE. That means no waiting for a year while we create the book! :) Drawn, colored, lettered and ready to go. 100 pages of story, behind the scene sketches and an interview with Murs & Blaylock. We just want to polish it up with some finishing touches.

STORY:
Yumiko (Yumi) Morales started life without much, but manages to enjoy her days nonetheless. Now what little joy she does have is about to be stripped away, including her sense of reality.
Yumi thinks she's living the dream life, touring with her boyfriend Dominick's band, Murder Acts, working the merchandise table at each show. But little does she know this rocket to fame comes with a price - a curse - to the benefit of someone else and she's in his way.
Getting away is not an option, because this new threat has an enemy of his own, and now Yumi and Dominick are caught in a centuries-old feud between a couple whose drama and squabbles can literally topple mountains.
When reality starts to crumble around her (or the veil of reality is lifted to show her what is really going on), this cursed Merch Girl may be the only one who can save her friends. But she'll need the help of some unsavory, un-human characters to do so. This book also indirectly supports Project Rectify through Josh.

MURS has been a major player in the underground hip hop scene for over 15 years, rising in fame and popularity steadily year by year, over the entire world. After many years, he finally agreed to sign to a major label, and immediately wished he could return to the indy world. Now, back in control of his own destiny, and with the creation of something as amazing as Kickstarter, he's coming to directly to the people who love his music and bucking the labels. He's also doing something fresh with the introduction of YUMIKO: CURSE OF THE MERCH GIRL.
JOSH BLAYLOCK entered the comic book game the same time that Murs entered hip hop, and is responsible for setting off a storm of '80s retro in the comic book world, having brought back characters like those from G.I. Joe and Voltron, and for a ton of his own creations as well. It's no secret that Murs loves comic books, and Josh likes Murs songs, so this was just a matter of time before Yumi was born.
