Friends,
This album is a big one for me.
It tells the story of how Eileen and I met, quickly fell in love, married, almost destroyed each other, became pregnant, separated and then slowly (somehow) began to work through it and learn to truly love each other. It was, without doubt, the most difficult year of my life. These songs were born of that struggle.
Most of them were written in the thick of it, late 2004 early 2005. Eileen and I met in June of 2004, we married in September 04 and she was pregnant a month later.
The songs were just too painful for either of us to listen to or deal with for a while, so they were put away. It wasn't until 2009 that I began to dig them out again, and now in early 2011 I'm almost finished the album.
My dear, sweet, misguidedly trusting wife has somehow allowed me to spend a bit over $5,000 dollars on this album. It has taken that much to get it recorded. Some really great friends and incredible players have helped bring the tracks to life. (They know who they are, I will mention them all later). I couldn't be happier with the way it has all turned out. BUT it's not finished.
I need about $5,000 more to get it there. Most of that cost is mixing. Mixing is a painstakingly elaborate process, ideally done by a highly trained professional in a very hi-tech environment (i.e. recording studio with lots of fancy gear)... In this case that person is the illustrious John Plymale whom I worked with before on The Whistlestop album. The amazing thing about John is that he is as nice as he is talented (extremely) which is a mighty rare thing.
I hope you like what you hear. I hope you'll help me spread the word so that others can hear, and I hope that we can pull this thing off, and get this record finished!!! Thanks for your time and perhaps your cash. It means a whole lot to me.
