Dear Friends of the World,
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this! We are Eagle and Talon, a Los Angeles-based duo who have spent many years making music together and releasing albums with our hands, thoughts and spirits.
We spent the last year working on our new EP "In Manila." It features guest appearances by comedian/musican Reggie Watts and close friends from the LA music community. We've finished the recording/mixing/producing and cd replication. Now we are finally ready to put it out! We are asking for help because we've realized that the business side of being a musician (booking tours, running our own amateur PR and radio campaigns, courting distributors, trying to master the art of social networking sites (myspace?!!!), figuring out contracts) has squished the artist side (writing music we care about, playing shows for/with amazing people, recording/mixing/producing three albums, touring, creating music videos, choreographing some very special dances) and we thought, why not ask our friends and fans to help us with this.

"In Manila" will be the first official release on our new record label BI/AKKA RECORDS and we want you to be our partners. We are very excited about the new EP and think some of you out there might like it too. It's a little different than our past releases, it's a little softer, more danceable, and much more tropical. If you like it TELL US! If you don't like it TELL US! We just want help getting our music out there and here's the plan...
1. We'd like to hire an experienced professional to do a 6-week PR campaign to help get the word out. They would be sending to music blogs, music publications, tastemakers & critics. A portion of the Kickstarter funds would go to covering their fee and the cost of mailing and postage supplies.
2. We need to get on the road and tour the album! Your donations would help offset the cost of van rental, insurance, keeping gas in the tank, tour posters, cockroach-free accommodations and tour publicity (via radio and weekly publications)
We want people to have a chance to hear what we've been working on and decide for themselves if it's worthwhile. We want you to decide that too. You can preview the whole record here:

Forging a sound that makes you wonder whether you’re being pet by a kitten or mauled by a lynx, LA-based art/rock girl duo Eagle and Talon have been confusing people since their formation. Splicing angular guitars and intricate rhythms with Casio and scraps of musical theater, their first record Thracian was praised as an intelligent collection of “wild, wonky post-punk" (Washington Post), "a perfect antidote to all the magisterial synth irony that’s been all the rage" (Elle). With their forthcoming offering, In Manila, the ladies incorporate dancier pop elements into their repertoire, but their surrealist sensibilities and scrappy lo-fi aesthetic remain fully intact.
Clocking in at just under 14 minutes, In Manila covers a lot of new ground for the duo. The exotic ride begins with the dreamy aquatic organ instrumental "I Want Everything." Title track "In Manila" crashes in on the reverie with a propulsive beat, packing infectious hooks into a quasi-Caribbean party. "Ruen Pair" envisions the duo as Enya on Halloween, while "Modified My Knife" brings back their art-damaged guitar sound. The EP closes with "For The Bond," a jazz-disco anthem.
Eagle and Talon is Kim and Alice Talon, with a guest turn on the new EP by comedian/musician Reggie Watts on bass vocals. Since the band's inception, they've made their mark sharing stages with The Happy Hollows, Efterklang, Bodies of Water, Clues, The Mae Shi and toured throughout the US and Europe. From Winnipeg and Cleveland, respectively, the two met in LA and played their first show together on Valentine's Day. It would only seem appropriate that the duo release 'In Manila' in the month of bears and roses. It will be released Feb 22, 2011 on BI/AKKA RECORDS in conjunction with the re-release of Thracian in Europe by German imprint The Company With the Golden Arm.
