About this project
Follow the trials and travails of one Hiram Copperworth, a hapless scholar forced by desire and circumstance to journey through the strange corners of his world. I want to create an open-ended story in a traditional western fantasy just reaching into the industrial era. I want to tell the tale of a steampunk world in the offing, and the people that live and work there, not all of which is decided upon or created yet. But more than that, I want to do it in a fun and interesting format.
With that in mind I wish to post journal entries in the form of a prose comic following a weekly update schedule. Currently, the planned duration is six months, longer if sufficient interest is shown. The weekly updates will take the form of journal entries by the protagonist, accompanied by an in-character charcoal or pencil sketch appropriate to the subject.
Funds will go towards hosting and other associated costs for the site, as well as reimbursing the artist for his time.

Funding Successful
This project successfully raised its funding goal on September 26, 2010.
Pledge $5 or more Pledge $5 or more
A pledge of 5$ allows the patron to name a character that will appear in the story. The only stipulation is that the name cannot be obscene, nor can it be too wildly out of genre (I.E. no "Killlaser-McMurderpants, Space Ranger 7 of Haxis Prime"). Other than that, go nuts.
Pledge $10 or more Pledge $10 or more
A pledge of 10$ allows a patron to name a place within the setting, be it a city, a nation, or a region. The same stipulation applies as does for names.
Pledge $20 or more Pledge $20 or more
A pledge of 20$ or more gets the patron a character name or place, along with a sketch of said character or place dictated by the patron. The sketch will then be used in one of the weekly updates. The same stipulations as above apply.

I am twenty-nine and I live in the pacific northwest.
There are no published works by my hand, nor great accolades in my name.
I did win a small collegiate honor for writing; the Gallivan Writing Award.
I'm very fond of fantasy as a genre, but more important by far is that the story be well told.
