About this project

Hello!

We're fundraising here at Kickstarter, so that we may workshop my one "man" show,  Secrets of a Holy Father, the week of July 11th with the intent of moving it to a full Off-Broadway production in the Fall.

Based on a true story, Tina Alexis Allen (actress/playwright/GLAAD Award Nominee) yearns to understand the complicated and highly secretive double life of her father. By transforming herself into him, Allen takes her father's journey in life and the afterlife, submerging into the Universal themes of family betrayal and redemption in a tour-de-force performance from the heart

Developed at the Susan Batson Studio, with acclaimed acting coach, Susan Batson (Nicole Kidman, Tyler Perry, Juliette Binoche, Chris Rock), Secrets of a Holy Father will be presented the week of July 11th, 2011, under the direction of Josh Hecht (Drama Desk Award Winner) and the guidance of several Broadway advisors.

Everything's ready to go!  Rehearsals are in progress!  We have an Off-Broadway theater lined up, a commitment from a top level general manager, award-winning technical designers, and crew.   In order for this project to be fulfilled, we are fundraising for the remaining costs, including: the theater rental, crew, marketing, and legal fees.

Check out our feature article here in Forbes Women.

With Gratitude,

Tina Alexis Allen and the entire team

TINA ALEXIS ALLEN (Actress/Playwright/GLAAD Award Nominee), is developing her one "man" show, Secrets of a Holy Father, in a tour de force performance from the heart where she portrays her father.
Currently on television, you can see Tina as Dr. Natasha Mills on IFC's The Onion News Network.
Off-Broadway, she played Susan in the World Premiere of Chuck Mee’s Fire Island where The New York Times called "Ms. Allen [] an actor of great conviction." Other favorite theatre roles include: the renowned art collector, Rosaura Valparaiso in The Juvenal Players at The Kitchen; Lydia in the World Premiere of James McManus’ Underground at The Beckett Theatre (where critics said, “there are a handful of fine performances here, particularly, Tina Alexis Allen”); and Frances in The Breakup Notebook.
While in LA, Tina wrote and performed her 13 character one woman show, Irresistible, (“her character work rivals that of Lily Tomlin" In Magazine). Irresistible was produced twice in Los Angeles and was accepted to the NEW YORK FRINGE FESTIVAL.
Acting opposite TERI GARR, Tina made her writing and directing debut with the recently completed film, God Out the Window. Other films roles include the SLAMDANCE favorite, Phantom Pain, in which she starred and produced. Her upcoming films: Last Rite and Bushwick.
