This Kickstarter campaign will fund the finishing costs for our first feature documentary film, THE HARVEST. The film started with one simple question: What if the last wish of a child who's terminally ill was to hunt and kill the animal of their choice?

About the film:
Filmed over the course of four years, THE HARVEST is a documentary that chronicles three families facing the uncertainty of life, the untimely loss of innocence, and the struggle to provide for one’s own. Follow Tyler, Arianna, and Casey as they brave the greatest hunting adventure of their life: hunting and killing the animal of their dreams.
This film will captivate a broad audience because of it's brutal but honest portrayal of what we can all relate to but somehow try to avoid: death. The characters in this film cannot avoid it, and we are in inspirational awe of how they deal with life's daily struggles–whether we agree with their actions or not.
Why do we need finishing funds?
Every dime spent to make this film has been out of pocket, but now we are scraping to see it to completion.
POST PRODUCTION is an incredibly time consuming and expensive process. The funds will help cover editing, color correction, & licensing newspaper articles and photographs of paintings such as the Paul Bril classic we use for our main title.
COMPOSITION. What's a great movie without great music? We're fortunate enough to hire a most talented composer, Brian Lawlor, to helm the musical score. We need to make sure Brian is compensated for all of his hard work.
MARKETING. How will people know about THE HARVEST? Printing posters, cards, and pressing dvds for press kits is another big cost we need to cover in order to make sure that people will be inspired to watch and talk about the film.
FESTIVAL FEES. Application fees add up. In two years we hope to screen in over 100 international festivals.
Our goal is to reach $10,000 by Christmas Eve. By January, 2011 we will have an exhibition ready feature, awesome dvds and merchandise, and everyone involved can be graciously compensated for their hard work.

Gabe DeLoach was born and raised in northern Appalachia country and received his BFA in 2001 from Baltimore's Maryland Institue, College of Art. He then enjoyed a lengthy, educational career as a farmer and carpenter before returning to journalism and filmmaking full time.
