The World's Fair Historical Society seeks space to pull out of storage an incredible history and share it with the public.
Bringing History to the Public . . .
The nonprofit I founded, World's Fair Historical Society, was started in 2003 with the mission of preserving an incredible history of International Expositions and having a museum some day.
From inventions such as the Ferris Wheel, Microwave Oven, Ice Cream Cone, Hot Dog, Cotton Candy, Dishwasher and Touch-Tone Telephone to visions of what the future will look like, world's fairs have had a tremendous impact on society.
Our project is to bring this history to the public by raising funds to get space. We have an ever growing collection of items donated and we have run out of room to put them in. Everything is in boxes as our last picture shows.
We need to get funds to help use secure storage, work and exhibit space and have the opportunity to pull things out of storage, be able to work on them and display them. Our major piece is a scale model of the 1964 NY World's Fair, shown below and in our video along with a few other pictures. It yearns to be out where the public can see it.
An audio soundtrack from the Ford Pavilion at the 1964 NY World's Fair with Walt Disney and others on it is at the end, after the pictures. This is one of many audio items we have that captures a moment in history. People rode through the Ford exhibit, created by Walt Disney, in brand new convertible Ford automobiles including the Ford Mustang, which was introduced at this fair, and were taken into prehistoric times. The audio is the narration to this journey.
We hope you will consider contributing and be part in saving this history.
Thank you,
Randy Richter, Founder, Co-President
