First rehearsal tomorrow!
There is never any rest for the producers of small opera companies. This past weekend we completed two fully staged performances of Puccini's Madama Butterfly with chamber orchestra. Audiences and singers alike were very moved by the production. The intimacy of the space heightened the dramatic impact of an already amazing work! As one audience member wrote: "I could see it! I could hear it! It was wonderful!!"
That is what Chelsea Opera is all about...making its productions authentic and intimate.
Meanwhile, even as we tie up the post-production strings for Butterfly, we will have our first rehearsal for On Rosenstrasse tomorrow evening. And just so there should be a least one challenge, one of our actors had to withdraw due to a family emergency. So we are scrambling, 24-hours away from rehearsal, to replace her. Fortunately, our networking has turned up several possibilities, so we should be fine.
Everyone we speak with finds the On Rosenstrasse story fascinating. Our dear backers of this project obviously get that, and we hope will share the opportunity to bring this project to a reality with friends. Spread the word!
