New Trailer for Cardboard

Update #19 · Apr 1, 2013 · comment

I know this may not seem very exciting as many of you have already seen the film. It's really more of a tool to share. If you enjoyed the documentary and want to let others know about its existence, this is definitely something you can share!

To give you a short update on the film's progress, I'm now playing the "waiting game" as film festival season approaches and I wait for the selection results. However, that won't stop me from working to get this film out there into the world. I'm currently compiling presentation packets to mail to distributors who could purchase, market, & make "Cardboard" available on things like iTunes & Netflix. If you have any connections, now would be the time to share them. *wink-wink*

I'll update you again when I have more news but until then, take care and wish me luck!

Matt

P.S. The song you hear is called "Song for Seattle" by Thomas Hubbard and is actually featured in "Cardboard."

Thank You for your Feedback! Oh... And Movie Posters!

Update #17 · Nov 18, 2012 · comment

Good Morning/Afternoon Everyone,

First, I want to say Thank you to all of you who've submitted feedback after watching the rough cut of Cardboard. I've already made tons of changes based on viewer thoughts. As I continue to refine this film, it really helps to know what you think. For those of you who haven't yet watched or submitted feedback, I'll still be accepting those forms listed in the previous update for the next day or so but afterwards, I'll be removing those clips from the web for now.

Now, for the really interesting stuff. :)

I'm about a week from having the film watchable start to finish in it's final cut. After that, I'll make the final revisions and do the color corrections and sound mixing with the final scoring as well. I hope you enjoyed the music, we've had some amazing artists donate their work to the film.

I've launched a competition on a site called 99designs where I provide some resources and graphic designers create what they believe would be the best movie poster/DVD box art for Cardboard. I've had some incredible designs come through and some not-so-great attempts but I wanted you to have a voice in this decision as I near the end of the competition where I'll choose a winner.

You can view all of the designs at: http://99designs.com/other-art-illustration/contests/design-poster-cardboard-documentary-about-panhandlers-seattle-177835 and email me your favorites at matt@soundchange.org. I've already weeded out some of the less attractive submissions. (which you can see under the eliminated tab if you're curious)

I hope you're all doing well and I'll never stop Thanking you for your involvement in this film!

ALMOST THERE!!!

Update #15 · Oct 3, 2012 · comment

First, I'd like to apologize once again for the delay in both this update AND in the completion of the film. Every time I feel like I'm almost done, I find something that needs to be added to do this story justice and couldn't tell it properly without. Between that and being taken out of the editing room for two months due to a neck injury, I've failed to meet every deadline I've set for myself.

Not this time

The next time you hear from me, it will be with a link to watch a rough cut screener copy of the film and a feedback form in order to hear your thoughts on what you liked, didn't like, should or shouldn't change, how it made you feel, what you learned, so that I can take that feedback and work it into the film and make sure it tells the story the way that it needs to be told.

What's going to happen when it's finished?

Most people think you just submit to festivals. The real goal is to get distribution in one form or another. My goal is distribution through Netflix, iTunes, and/or one of the cable channels such as Showtime or HBO. I don't expect theatrical distribution or DVD/Bluray release. When it comes to festivals, my dream would be to premiere the film at SIFF, the Seattle International Film Festival. However, I'll be submitting to distributors as soon as the film is complete, with or without a festival.

Seattle is such a big character in this film that I really hope the local side of the story will make it a good choice for the SIFF selection committee. But we'll see! :)

So there you have it. If you haven't watched the film within the next month, I encourage you to send me angry emails DAILY at matt@soundchange.org. :-)

I will say this... I couldn't be happier with how it looks. I hope you feel the same when you see it.

Thank you for your Kindness, PATIENCE, Understanding, and Support. Really... Thank you.

Matt
