Help us create a novice's guide to repair and transform your vehicle into one that suits your personality

This project is the creative genius of my 15 year old son Justin Brauer who is already studying hard to become an automotive engineer.  He wants to use this experience to benefit the hundreds of thousands of teenagers and adults who lack the knowledge to safely repair and customize their own vehicles to suit their personality.  This project will also help ensure you don't get ripped off if you do choose to seek help from a professional.

I (Scott Brauer) will bring in subject matter experts of all phases of automotive restoration, customization and repair where Justin and other novices will use their guidance to restore an old car to great operating condition and ultimately customize this rolling canvas into something that suits Justin's identity.

All phases of this process will be captured and shared on a website that keeps contributors up to date on the overall progress and share lessons learned by this novice crew.  Ultimately, a multimedia production will be created that will guide other novices through their own projects by translating this often confusing and difficult topic into easy to understand, step-by-step explanations.

The focus of this project will revolve around these three points: Picking your car, Fixing your car, Customizing your car.

Picking your car: This topic focuses on receiving the biggest bang for your buck when it comes to choosing your vehicle. A vehicle is essentially a moving canvas that displays your personality for all to see. But when picking a vehicle you have to understand that there are things to look out for. Essentially this topic is meant to inform the person to make the right decision when choosing their car, which in turn can save them lots of time and money.

Fixing your car: When you have picked your car there can be problems with it in terms of functionality and/or appearance. This topic will show how to fix these issues to make your vehicle run and look its very best. Fixing things yourself can save you a lot of money from paying a mechanic and can be fun. It feels good to know you worked on your car yourself which makes you more proud of the finished product. Additionally, we will ensure the safety features of your vehicle are in good working order and cover ways to further improve your protection on the road.

Customizing your car: Once you get to this point you are ready to make your car “your own”. With that being said, the plan is to teach people how to use their creativity and customize their car so that it shows their personality as if they were looking into a mirror. All of this makes an amazing end product that you are proud to have accomplished and be seen driving in.

I will be the project manager which places me in charge of your contributions and the overall plan of action.  My son Justin and his novice crew will be performing the restoration and customization of a vehicle with the aid of experienced mentors when required. The project funds raised by Kickstarter will be used towards the purchase of the base vehicle, parts/supplies, access to advanced tools when needed, assistance from subject matter experts, website hosting/management as well as multimedia production.

Of note, our funding goal is the bare minimum needed to accomplish our goal.  Please consider funding us well beyond that point as it will allow us to do a much more through job so we can address the more unique situations of our many contributors for everyone’s benefit.  We want our multi-media automotive repair and restoration guide to be an invaluable resource for everyone.
