Something new inside...
Thanks to everyone who's been sending in suggestions! We're glad to respond to the first of these today.
By popular demand we're offering a new product to keep your Stack bars high & dry. This stainless steel soap dish is designed with a ceramic catch basin to drain away excess water without leaving a messy countertop.
This design is made in limited quantities through the same process we used to prototype the Stack bar itself. All components are made in New York City and go through a multi-step process of printing, curing, oven sintering, and kiln firing. These will be numbered sets, and each supporting backer will find their personal backer number etched into the stainless steel base.
They're pricey because they're custom. If you'd like to support the project in this way, please add $200 to your pledge and we will personalize your own unique set. Stainless steel finishes are also available in bronze and gold. We hope you like the design. > scroll down for pictures and video <

Crystal,
That's a great point. While we're testing this design we'll definitely keep the little ones in mind. One nice thing about the printing and polishing process is that it softens edges, so even though the computer renders above are overly crisp, the physical model's edges will be smoothed.
We'll post pictures as soon as we can. Thanks for your help!

Aric,
I think it's very clean looking. However; as a mother I can tell you that although I'd use your soap I wont use the soap dish because of the sharp angles on it's corners. I've got two little ones in that bathroom and I can just see them getting hurt while trying to grab this nifty thing! Sweet clean design but I'd round the corners slightly to avoid such sharp edges. Espeically with the design of your soap being so rounded. Just my thoughts! :) Still love the concept!

Hi George,
We've designed the steel arc shape to be tighter than the contour of the bar to minimize direct contact with the drain hole. We will test and refine this design before production to get the best possible drainage - this version has 7mm of negative space between bar and drain. I expect to have the first version in-hand in about 2 weeks and test how this changes as a bar wears down.
Thanks for the comments, we really appreciate your thoughts.

If you only have one little drainage hole it will get clogged with soap residue very quickly. I can't tell from the video, but you would want as much negative space under the soap as possible on your dish to allow water to pool and drain. It appears its a perfect conformation and the may lead to the soap sitting in water or being in contact with more water than necessary.
