Update #3: Recording finished!

Posted on May 12, 2011

The time in the studio flew by this week - the band had lots of fun and played tremendously!  I couldn't be more pleased with how the music has turned out.  Each one of the players put their own voice on my tunes and the project took off in directions that I never could have imagined.  I'll be headed back to the studio for mixing in a few weeks, and then I'll have the initial mp3s ready!

In the meantime, enjoy a couple of pics of the band from Sunday night's performance at the Nashville Jazz Workshop, courtesy of photographer Jason Pawlowski!

Update #2: And off we go!

Posted on May 9, 2011

After a couple of rehearsals and warm up show at Sportman's Grille this week, the quintet had its debut tonight at the Nashville Jazz Workshop.  I just got home with a huge smile on my face and all I can do is shake my head thinking about how great the band played.  Matt White, Bruce Dudley, Jonathan Wires, Josh Hunt and guest Jeff Coffin all blew me away tonight - they have made music out of my tunes and it really showed in the concert.  Tomorrow morning we head to the studio to lay it down for the album, and I'm ecstatic!

There's still one more day to pledge and preorder a CD - if anyone needs convincing I've posted a track from the set tonight.  I hope you enjoy the music - thank you for your continued support!

Update #1: Goals and More

Posted on April 27, 2011

Two important announcements to share today:

First off, with still 10 days remaining, I'm very excited to announce that the initial fundraising goal has been reached!  Through the generosity of many, there's no doubt that this project will take place!  However, I'm not satisfied with meeting the goal, I'd like to obliterate it!  The expenses for making a CD are many - the band, the recording studio, the mixing, the mastering, and the physical CD creation.  These all add up to a very substantial number, so please continue to spread the word about this project if you can.

And that brings me to my second exciting announcement.  Along with the wonderful musicians playing on this album, I've confirmed a special guest artist to play on a few of the tunes.  That person is the internationally recognized saxophonist, composer and educator who is a member of Bela Fleck and the Flecktones and Dave Matthews Band - Jeff Coffin!
