Five Color Woodblock print and black and white variants commemorating the Golden Pride of the Seventh Fleet, USS Cushing DD-985
This is a woodblock print I've been wanting to make for a while. I will need to rent access to a printing prress and get use of inks (all of which I can easily arrange). This print will commemorate the USS CUSHING DD-985. It will be hand carved on birch and be printed using a multiple wood block process. The ruler shown in the photo is 24 inches for scale.
The color run should be 5 colors. Each color requires the use of a different wood block. If I exceed funding I may add another color in order to increase complexity and add depth to the image.
Basically the $1200 goal is to fund the project. Work has commenced on the "key" block (the black ink layer that contains the linear information). Each block after that will be a color layer. By pledging different amounts you ensure that you will receive a print (appropriate for the pledge level). If I don't hit the $1200 mark then the project doesn't go through and you don't donate any money. I can exceed the $1200 mark through donations, which just means I get to make more prints. These prints will be on high quality paper suitable for framing (I prefer to use Somerset Satin). The estimated delivery is August 2012.
