A limited edition of lithographs commemorating DD-985 USS CUSHING. The last Spruance class destroyer to be decommissioned.
I am entering graduate school this Fall but would like to have a summer art project to work on. I have a B.A. in Art from the University of Tennessee specializing in Printmaking (predominately lithography). I've been meaning to do a tribute to the USS CUSHING for sometime and this is an excellent time for me to do so. I served on USS CUSHING from June 2001 till her decommissioning in September 2005. She was the last Spruance Class Destroyer to be decommissioned. I've never enjoyed misery as much as did on that ship. She was a fine ship with a fine crew. It would give me a lot of satisfaction to do this print (and it's not like anyone else is producing CUSHING memorabilia anymore).
I've tried to keep the expected costs low on this. All prints will go on archival paper (most likely Somersett Velvet). I will need to rent a press to use as well as purchase plates for the large print and have access to a stone for the smaller print.
Have a question? If the info above doesn't help, you can ask the project creator directly.
