Chris Williams is an Animation Supervisor currently working in Los Angeles, California. Over the past 12 years, he has animated or supervised on a variety of films including the SPIDER-MAN trilogy, OPEN SEASON and CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS.
Chris holds a degree in Art History from McGill University and a diploma in Classical Animation from Sheridan College.
RED FOG is Chris' first - but hopefully not his last - graphic novel. He is currently developing a variety of projects for both feature animation and live action films.
Hey Luis! We are halfway now...Mike is finishing his roughs for chapter three, then we have two to go. Getting there!
So what is the progress on the book? How much is there left to do before it is done?

No problem Gary! I'll make a note of it. The book won't be ready for a while, but I can just get them to you when they are ready. :-) Mike is currently working on chapter 1 of a 5 chapter book. Does that work?

Hey Matthew. Thanks for writing. The character will be named after you, but won't look like you. He would be in a few panels for sure, and there's a strong chance of zombie interaction. :-) So the drawing would be for that character. If it's the likeness you are interested in, I would go for either the soldier or zombie likeness. They are pretty similar rewards..both cool. The sketch you get for the zombie/soldier would be great too..just not completely cleaned up. But that appeals to me. I just couldn't have too many more likeness awards because it became a bigger job for Mike the artist. Does that make sense?
I am interested in backing at the 250 amount but am not sure about the details. The option of "name of a character" + "ink drawing" will that be of some random character with my name or will it include likeness. Thanks

I've outlined this reward a bit in our backer updates. Essentially, you can get yourself a great drawing but if you pledge more than the base amount, you can get more characters, or more drawings even. Hope that works for you.

Got it Sterling. I'm going to touch base with Mike on this. I'm sure he'll be game. He's done just those kind of sketches for years and years. A bit more developed than the one inside the jacket cover, but not as finessed as the Zombie reward drawings. Keep an eye out...

I hear you on the whole balancing act, I'm new to kickstarter myself and have only browsed through the comic projects. What I imagined was more of a "comic-con"ish sketch, not necessarily something that took long to do but would be original. To keep it simple you could even use rough sketches from the novel or perhaps if there are extra zombie brainstorm sketches lying around.
Hey Sterling! Thanks for writing. That's a great idea...I'd have to check with Mike first to see if he has the bandwidth. I wonder how much that would be? The guys here were thinking that an original drawing plus the book would be around $125. Not sure how that flies with you...but it's a balancing act between what the fans would pay, and how much Mike's time is worth you know? Tricky stuff!
When I was building the rewards, I put a ton of thought into what zombie fans/comic fans would love and what the value would be. So far, my $250 be a zombie reward only has one backer, and with all the stuff you get there, I'm surprised that hasn't been gobbled up.
Still...let me know your thoughts!
Chris- I was wondering if you guys are thinking of adding any other rewards? Although the $50+ rewards has a zombie sketch on the inside cover I was hoping for a "quick sketch" reward. I love zombies and will back this project regardless just thought I'd throw that out there

Chris-- I'd be surprised if this didn't confuse a lot of people. From what I have seen, the pledge/reward amounts are supposed to be the total events. (Only commenting because I hope it doesn't set you back, when the project wraps up.)
Hey Ian...I wrestled with the shipping. To include or not to include. :-) When you pledge, you select the reward you want, then type in the total pledge (reward amount + shipping) into the box at the top. So if you wanted the book and shirt for $60, you would check that reward, then type in $70 in the box above. Does that make sense?
It seemed to me that ebay, for example, has shipping as an extra charge, so it was ok for me to do it the same way.

Hey Chris - you nailed it! Recent grad of the AM program and it was incredible. Obviously, comic books/graphic novels are such a great study for animators, so I can't wait to see the artwork!
