A young Chinese student travels to the American embassy in Beijing for a chance to study piano in the United States.
The Interview is a tale of hope and passion written by Alex Ma, a Columbia University MFA student from Beijing University, China. The film is being directed by Layla Ji, a first year MFA student at Columbia who's films have played at the Central Florida Film Festival, Awareness Festival, and selected by the Asians on Film Festival. The story focuses on the plight of a young girl in China and her attempts to study piano in the United States. Her attempt to pass into the country is complicated by being blind and dependent on her mother for support. The film focuses on the complicated immigration system and the struggle for foreigners to achieve their dreams in a foreign country.
