THE B-RING

Hello and thank you for visiting our Project Page. We'd like to introduce you to...THE B-RING!

The B-RING is a pet-project that has BLOOMED into something far bigger and more exciting than we first imagined! Most exciting is the idea to get the FANS involved this time. It's more fun that way, right?

This KS Project basically funds and facilitates the ENTIRE pre-production of the film! We will be able to procure all the concept art for our ship and it's environment as well as storyboards for the movie's action sequences. We can design and build the vital props and weapons and spacesuit Catherine's character will utilize in the film. Most importantly, we will create the most IMPINGING and EXCITING Investor's Proposal/Pitch anyone has ever walked into a movie executive's office with!! Imagine CB wheeling in a three-foot model of our spacecraft into the meeting!

THE B-RING is an exciting female-driven sci-fi action film that harkens back to the great genre movies like ALIEN and THE TERMINATOR. In our story, all the action takes place aboard the All-Nations ENDURANCE, a space freighter on a mission to save the Earth. As Earth's energy stores drop to near total depletion, a team of the best and brightest were sent to harvest a precious new energy source discovered within the B-Ring of Saturn.

Catherine Bell plays Flight Engineer ROKSANA O'NEILL. When a ruthless band of Marauders hijack the Endurance and (almost) kill the entire crew, she becomes Earth's only hope for survival.

The unsuspecting Bandits don't know what they have on their hands when Roksana begins picking off their crew one by one. With a hidden skill-set derived from years of Black Ops missions around our shattered planet, Roksana wages her own private war in an effort to save her ship's precious cargo and ultimately her family back home.

When it seems Roksana finally has the upper hand, the Raiders find another survivor (a young female engineer) and threaten things unimaginable if she doesn't reveal herself.

Now a captive of the murdering Outlaws, it looks as if Roksana will fail her mission...but she has an ally no one knows about. The ship itself. Designed to communicate with her, she uses the technology she created to escape her captors but not before learning who sponsored the bloody takeover.

When their mission is revealed, the ENDURANCE's decks run red with blood. She's not really concerned that they brought along a priest, but he may be good for SOMETHING.

Death by knife, by ballistic oxygen tank, by the brutal vacuum of space...and a couple of surprises.

Catherine Bell is ROKSANA O'NEILL in THE B-RING... SHE'S ALL EARTH HAS.

• Shooting will take place in Charleston, South Carolina at the newly designed STUDIO CHARLESTON. It's sound stages have 40ft+ heights VITAL to building the ship interiors. Picture our cast running through three levels of a set without cutting, oh HECK YEAH! South Carolina also currently has one of the best tax incentive packages in the U.S.
• We have a careful, well-planned strategy to make this movie happen! And with BIG-Budget blockbuster visuals and stunts.
  
• We have letters of intent from some SERIOUS Hollywood heavyweights, all eager and excited to be a part of the film. Our Director of Photography, Production Designer and Digital FX Supervisor have IMDB lists as long as your arm filled with very impressive credits!
• Producers Catherine Bell (LAST MAN STANDING, THE GOOD WITCH and its three sequels) and Tim Christenson (HBO's IN TREATMENT and HOW TO MAKE IT IN AMERICA) bring the experience of working on DOZENS of projects in a producing capacity and a whole lot of clever to this exciting, challenging film!
• The writing team of Jolene T. Rice and Adam Beason recently wrapped principal photography on their action film LAST MAN STANDING, produced by Gale Anne Hurd (ALIENS, TERMINATOR 1 & 2, ARMAGEDDON and THE WALKING DEAD).
• THE B-RING will mark the directorial debut of (full disclosure here, LOL) Catherine's hubby, Adam Beason. He's ready! He's PUMPED! He's been raised on a diet of genre films his entire life and moved to Hollyweird when he was just nineteen. Holding pretty much every job that town can throw at you (no porn, thankfully) constituted his film school. Now a successful screenwriter, he's ready for the next jump up! It's on...like Donkey Kong!

UPDATE #1

Hey Everyone!  WOW! Over 40% in less than 2 days?  That's Amazing!  THANK YOU!  We finish this thing strong and we will need to think of another killer reward!  

All of us behind the scenes are getting very, very excited!  Let's look at some more artwork from the film, shall we?

Here is one of the many weapons ROKSANA will utilize...a range-specific pistol.  Don't want to breach the hull in deep space, now do we?  Hmmmm, maybe we do...I'll get Adam and Jolene to add a scene (CRACK!-ing the whip!)  LOL.

Here is a photo we took from a section at STUDIO CHARLESTON and below that is some of the Endurance's hangar concept art...pretty good match, huh?

UPDATE #2

GENESIS of the ENDURANCE

Our ship, the A.N. (All Nations) ENDURANCE, is named after Shackleton's icebreaker.

I had the idea of a similar concept in space and came up with a shield for the front of the ship.

Here's my initial cocktail napkin sketch...LOL...why do so many interesting ideas start life on a cocktail napkin...hmmmm, I wonder...

Then, after a ton of fun collaboration with Angela Sung, our concept artist, we came to this:

Now we're cooking!  Look at that thing!  Don't you wanna see Catherine running all over that thing beating up bad guys?  I do!!  

ACTUAL CONVERSATION:

Adam:   Jolene, the whole movie needs to take place onboard that ship...

Jolene:  Uhhhh.....Ok......

Adam:   That's how we achieve the high-end production value...ONE LOCATION!  Fun, right?

Jolene:  Uhhhhhhh.......

SERIOUSLY though...Jolene is the BEST!  BEST. WRITING. PARTNER. EVER!

After we finalized the design Angela could just go nuts giving us some pretty amazing eye-candy like this:

UPDATE #3

Ok guys!  Here are a few excerpts from the opening script pages, out of context and a tad cryptic, but we think they will give you a good idea of what we are going for!!

It's a bit bloody, but serves our story beautifully...LOL

THX again to all our AMAZING backers and supporters!  We feel we've got an amazing story, an amazing character to root for and an exciting experience for the audience!

So here we are!  Just a little over a week left...AND SO CLOSE!  CB, Jolene and I want to finish STRONG!  We go over and we'll have to do something special, like a TEASER TRAILER maybe!!

So here is UPDATE #4:

Here is our sketch of Roksana and her space suit.  The helmet and rear tank are very industrial...almost like commercial deep-sea diving equipment.  But HOTTER!  LOL.

The rifle is based off the Heckler & Koch G36c...but we have some fun mods on it visible in the sketch.

We are going for tight and form-fitting because there is at least one sequence where she dons it and heads OUTSIDE the Endurance! 

This is also the REWARD at the $25 Backer level which bleeds to most of the other tiers as well.  CB will also be signing each reproduction!

Another exciting thing this fund helps us produce is a REAL version of this pic!  We are talking with an amazing prop-builder in LA to recreate the helmet, rifle and tank rig...designs are in place for the suit as it has MAJOR significance in the story and a surprise use!
