Update #8: Almost Done...
Don't think we've forgotten about you. The band spent the weekend before Thanksgiving mixing the record at Civil Defense Studios in Brooklyn. A few more tweaks and it will be ready for mastering. We still have some rewards to get out that are dependent on the record being finished etc. Also Jeff H.'s daughter Avery has almost finished her custom poster. We will be leaking a track out soon to all of you who supported this project.
Also, if you are in North Central Florida the weekend of December 10th, we have rented out O'Leno State Park and are staging a concert/filming/campout that is not to be missed. More info can be found on our facebook page. Camping and Cabins are available.

Update #4: Patrick recaps our week in St. Augustine.
Charged with writing the recap of our time in St. Augustine, I feel a bit like Keanu Reeves in Point Break, affecting a grin that is meant to convey both confidence and a freedom of spirit but appears idiotic, and telling his boss, "I caught my first tube today... sir." This is, first of all, close enough to being factually true that I will go ahead and claim that it is. More significantly, though, because the recording is being funded largely through a Kickstarter campaign, I'm a little self-conscious about how the way we spent our week is perceived by the people who helped make it happen for us. We would not want you to think that we took your generosity lightly, or that we weren't on task.
That said, you know that feeling you have after swimming and getting a lot of sun, where you seem to experience every little thing--food, rest, humor, music--as a kind of deep physical and spiritual luxury? We have been asked by a surprising number of people if the recording got "beachy" out there: in the sense that we made it entirely in an atmosphere of that physical and spiritual luxury, I would have to say that it did. I certainly hope that everything that sounded good or seemed like a great idea at the time will continue to do so after the last of the sand is out of our shoes.
As far as a report of tangible progress goes, the record is, I think, nearly done, and how Jeremy Scott was able to make it sound as good as I think it does in an improvised studio inside of a beach house--control room in the kitchen, amps in bedrooms, band in the living room upstairs looking at the ocean--I will never understand. It has roughly eleven songs, depending on how you count them, and it is, oddly, almost precisely the length of our last record. The rest of the work will be slower going, but we are very anxious to finish it and have something to show to the friends and family and strangers who pitched in.
To those friends, family and strangers, I should add that your interest and faith in us were the sweetest parts of a really sweet deal.
