David Mead makes classic pop music. He debuted in 1999 with the well-received "The Luxury of Time" on RCA, followed by 2001's "Mine and Yours." After critical acclaim did not lead to massive sales, Mead was released from RCA soon after completing a third album in 2002, "Wherever You Are." He quickly set about recording and releasing the more acoustic "Indiana," his most highly-regarded set to date, on Nettwerk Records in 2004. The following year, Yep Roc Recordings released an EP version of the "Wherever You Are" collection, and Mead went back into the studio to record "Tangerine," his most expansive body of work. In 2008 he recorded and released the exceptionally intimate "Almost and Always" through Boundee in Japan and Cheap Lullaby in the United States. Mead will return to the studio with Grammy Award-winning producer Adam Schlesinger in 2011 to record his seventh studio album, "Dudes."
David Mead has toured extensively throughout four continents. He has had multiple songs licensed for films and television programs, as well as 82 pieces of music criticism published in Paste and American Songwriter magazines. He enjoys carpentry and hiking in his free time. He currently resides in Nashville, TN.
Hey Dudes, I do not as yet have "Dudes" and was wondering respectfully as to when it might arrive. I backed the project to the tune of $25 or over so... It is not that I am complaining, just that I am going to combust with excitement if it does not arrive soon. Let me know if you need my postal details again... I'll do whatever it takes to get it here, honest. Thanks Rex
Happy birthday, David! (Daniel Tashian's Twitter feed told me so.)
I'm very excited to hear that Dudes is soon to be arriving. It seems music making is just as complicated and time consuming as wine making. But both provide great rewards at the end of the process. Cheers!
Looking forward to hearing the finished product! It has only been 6 months since I pledged and 4 months once the funding for the project was met. You accomplished all this while you are all working hard at your other jobs and projects. I am sure it isn't an easy task to coordinate all of your schedules. Appreciate the diligence and the updates.
LOL, I only asked 22 hours ago!
Thanks for the great updates David, I am shocked by the 2nd, to see an artist like yourself having to branch into another form of work to make a living. As you say, it is these times we live in, mighty strange ones imho!
Anyone heard anything here since January?
An update would be nice.
Oops! I guess we were busy this past (and ongoing) winter and we missed this project. Darn it! Is there any way still to contribute? We were definitely primed for "Connoisseur" -- the trio of CDs of "Dudes," Elle Macho's EP, and Davey Ukulele's kid album need to be on our shelves!!! (Of course, Almost & Always already is.) Any ideas? -- Hugs from the Casinghinos
Congratulations David, what a success!! Awesome, can't wait for the CD ;)
Congratulations, David!

So glad to be a part of this. Can't wait to hear the CD.
I don't have a Youtube account so can't comment there but I'm so happy you used some pedal steel.
'Tis a beautiful sounding instrument.
Ok, my life is complete again.
I'm going through studio-video withdrawal :(
hey all....just wanted to post because i was one of the people who got a studio visit with David and friends. I thought the demos alone were good enough to put out...what David and his talented friends are doing with the songs is very cool. I can't wait to hear the final versions! I heard two tracks being worked out..."Guy on Guy" and "Happy Birthday, Marty Ryan". Based on those, all i can say is wow! .....a truly exciting piece of work awaits us all!
David, I want you to remake Paul Simon's "One-Trick Pony." You like Simon's music, I like that movie, Hollywood likes remakes. I see Lindsay Lohan in Blair Brown's role as your estranged wife, Josh Rouse as the slick producer originally played by Lou Reed (but Josh should be forced to do his best Lou Reed impression), Justin Bieber as your son, and Rip Torn as Rip Torn, only older and kookier now.
Where's Adam Schlesinger???
Or is he going to do a Jimmy Iovine and waltz in at the last minute and put his name on it! :-)
Video is great! Very exciting! Check your email everyone.
You guys have to get his project right. I mean, I have Stan's autograph on the pre-release riding on this. Make us proud. We believe in you.
Looking forward to another amazing record, and I can hope that you will come to Los Angeles with a full band one day... just hoping.
Good luck in the studio, which is my personal favorite place to be in the world.
Hope you are having a grand time at Grand Street Recordings.

I meant ABOVE 20k!
I donated a bit more as well. We gotta keep it about 20k!
Just donated another $50. I hope that helps. Good luck!
Now that you've dropped below 20k, you need to post an update so we can repost on Facebook, etc., and get the numbers back up.
Sadly, I still haven't received the link. :-( You're emailing it, right?
Heather-
You were sent the link on Nov. 23rd, we have resent it to you now.
Dudes
Question - so I pledged as "The Visitor" but didn't get any info on where to check out the demos or anything. :-(
Now that's a great Christmas present for sure!!!! I'm so proud of you and all your fans. Mom
Yahoooooo!
Yay!!!!!!!
Great news..... better go and pick the songs!!! Merry Christmas David and all who pledged.
Well done. Just in time for Christmas.
and done!! now make that record!
Woo hoo! It broke $13K. I hoping we see an after Xmas bump. I'd be interested in hearing some other Producer comments over at Soundcloud (even with its flaws). I've listened to the songs every day since I signed up and I'm loving them all.
I'm pretty sure there's a place to insert Stan in one of the songs. Maybe somewhere in "Knee-Jerk Reaction", because it's got great percussion potential. Can Stan hit the High-E? Either way, that dog has to be in the album!
make it so mo fo.
the last time i gave to kickstarter it was for a little film "Gone With the Wind"-
perhaps you heard of it-
I know David Mead, I like David Mead, Help "Dudes" become the next little "Gone with the Wind".
And past the halfway mark! Very very nice.
I LOVE how quickly you're reaching your goal. It means there are lots of other cool people out there who grok you and want to hear more.
I'm hoping you being in NYC means you'll be playing some shows too.
this is genius....I'm so excited for you!!!
Nice. I hope it'll be as much as a sucess as the last thing from kickstarter I backed (from Bleu)!
