Now I can't wait to see this project becoming reality!!! Shadowrun on the SNES is one of my favorite game of all time! I'm wondering how much time they will put in the development cycle for this baby with a budget of nearly 2 million dollars? Is it still 9 months, like it was supposed to be with a budget of $400,000 ?

Moral of the story? Never trust anyone who uses the word "chummers". As death has never been what gaming, be it online or otherwise, is about your argument has a fatal flaw in its logic. I know you'll be ignoring this in all likelihood but games are indeed about moving within a system as skillfully as you possibly can. Sometimes that means shooting a target and other times that means being the target yourself but those who play all seek a level of perfection within a system. As murder and death are all about going outside the boundaries of a system without any goal for perfection, a state which cannot exist in a rule-less situation, it simply doesn't meet up with what your own definition proposes.

You seem to forget that while Shadowrun was originally designed as a means for friends to get together and interact on a social level when it first came out, time has passed, technology has overrun our society and as a result, the once wonderful form of merrymaking that was known as "gaming" has been taken over by adolescent* sociopaths-in-training who know not the meaning of the word "friend".
In summary, "Shadowrun Returns" will be ruined by that infernal bane which ruins all online gaming... The players.

*Or those who's development as human beings froze at that particular stage of their lives.

It also reminded me of that awesome time about 15 years ago, when I had to write a short story for german-class (german here). Of course it was a 5 page story about the inner monologe about some decker who was trapped in a corner by gunfire. Good times.
