Some things are meant to be—Abram and his call from Haran, Johnny Cash and Nickajack Cave—and to four simple guys from Idaho; the adoption of a little girl from China named Esterlyn. What binds these four seemingly unrelated things together? The power of God’s love to transform a person’s life, something frontman Luke Caldwell is well acquainted with. Luke experienced a personal call of sorts at 19 years old. A girl walked up to him and handed him a guitar, exclaiming God told her to give it to him. The only issue?—Luke had never sang or played a song in his life. That day friends prayed over him, asking God to create in Luke a heart of worship.
Years later, inspired by the adoption of Luke’s niece, Esterlyn was formed. This summer, Esterlyn is releasing their highly anticipated debut album with VSR Music Group / EMI, appropriately entitled, “Call Out”.
Esterlyn has built a loyal fan-base over the past several years that has steadily gained momentum since the debut of their independent release, Lamps which has sold over 20,000 units since 2008. Esterlyn recorded an acoustic worship EP in 2009 entitled Mending the Meaning, which hit top 10 albums on iTunes Christian. Over the past two years they have toured with the likes of Kutless, Fireflight, and performed at many of the Acquire The Fire events. Driven by a call, convicted by the love of a Savior, Esterlyn sings impassioned worship songs with an Indie-rock kick that refreshes the soul and exalts a God worthy to be praised. Esterlyn’s addictive melodies grounded in a matured sound will leave you pondering the various ways in which a creator and his creation reach out to each other and Call Out.
