The Pacifist Library Week 2 update
Dear backers and potential future backers,
Thank you for your support thus far, we are happy to have received a contribution from every one of you. We are still a long way from our funding goal, we have only raised 19% of our $5,500 goal and there are only two weeks left!
We need your help! Please help us spread the word and make The Pacifist Library a reality this September in NYC.
Some updates:
*We stopped our daily pacifist quotes and poem posting, since we understood that some people were getting overwhelmed by the amount of e-mails...
*Valentina continues to post new additions to the Italian Pacifist Library on her facebook
*Next Wednesday Nathaniel will be at the bookstore Il Catalogo in Pesaro for a performative poetry reading in Hebrew "A History of Pacifist Poetry in Israel"
For our update this week we thought to expand a bit on the inspiration for the library, Toma sik, a Hungarian-Israeli, Anarcho-pacifist, anti-zionist, vegan and world citizen. Toma Sik spent his life dedicated to struggling for a world free of oppression and suffering through tireless activism and community building. In the the late 1990's he moved back to his birthplace of Hungary, with the ultimately unsuccessful goal of forming an anarchist pacifist vegan commune. He died alone on the farm that he bought in 2004.
Following is an excerpt from an interview with his life-long friend Uri Davis. Enjoy!
